Question. How much superglue do you use?

A good well balanced review Chris. I'll stick with the cheap stuff, but thanks for taking the time.

Hello, nice video. Been building rc planes for some time and I have found that in general there is not a big difference in the CA glues I have been using. Now I have only used Starbond thin and I recently purchased their medium, but have not cracked it open yet. We all know that CA needs to be fresh and stored properly in order to last, CAs can have a shorter “shelf life” than other glues. But, back to Starbond. What I love about Starbond is their application bottle and extras they give you, such as the set of fine applicator tips, extra bottle nozzle and caps, and little pin to clear the nozzle tip. Also, not sure what kind of plastic they use, but the bottle parts are easy to clean and keep clear so that you can seal it nicely and remove the caps without destroying the parts.. The glue quality is great, but their application set is what made me a total fan. Finally, a CA glue company that understands how important the applicator is to the glueing process and longevity of the glue in the bottle. Again, nice video. Thanks

The viscosity of the glue is such an important thing to keep in mind. I tried to use the normal superglue to do some inlays with brass powder and the glue didn't mix with the powder because it was too thick and couldn't penetrate. So it just formed a layer of superglue on top of the powder and when I sanded that layer the powder just blew away lol.

I like the thin glue with the super thin applicator, looks great for fixing/re-fretting worn fret slots...but, for my limited use, 99% of jobs are achievable with £shop SG.

I've been buying the pound shop stuff for years lol same thing with epoxy

The thin CA glues are good for tight cracks, they are thin enough to draw themselves in via capillary action. Also, they dry so fast it's much easier to accidently glue your fingers to things, so be careful ;)

I was using titebond until recently, which is a bit more expensive than starbond. I was happy with it, but the price has gone up even more, so I switched to some cheap generic (adhesive guru - just got it because it was cheap though, nothing particular about the brand) that I found on Amazon, and so far, it has been fine. I‘m not paying $30 for 4 oz or $17 for 5 oz of accelerator.

awesome, I'll have to start getting the cheap medium stuff now, I use a lot of that haha

I spent years using the gel stuff, it definitely has it's place, but when I discovered 50g bottles of super thin CA I couldn't get over how much easier things were. I just need to find some that doesn't gob up the top of the bottle and make it impossible to get the lid on now.

Those metal tunes do my head in... generally one or two uses and they're useless, recently made the switch and am not going back!

Just stocked up from the pound shop for use with masking tape trick. Useful video, thanks. Are there any UK outlets honouring the discount code?

Low viscosity super glue is something I need in my life

So expensive glue can be a cheap small-area substitute for resin finish?

I had been using pound shop super glue for various tasks. In particular I had been using it as a finish on small pieces such as truss rod covers, I could sand and polish it to a mirror finish really easily. I thought I'd give a known brand of superglue a go, for finishing, it was nowhere near as good as the cheap stuff, it seemed to disintegrate under sanding and polishing!

Without watching the video, my answer is no, cyanoacrylate is just that.

but where I live, I get the cheap stuff at .14 ounces per little packet for $4 american for 3 little packets. That's just .42 ounces. Not even a half ounce. And it's a pain to deal with those little tiny things.

Or, I get the "expensive brand" such as star bond or Bob smith industries in 1 or 1.5 ounce bottles for $5 or $7 depending on where I'm at when I buy it. The math says it all. I get more than double the amount for cheaper than double the price or sometimes more than triple the amount if I can find that size bottle for even less than triple the cost.

And I can get the bigger bottles in any viscosity I want where as the cheaper tubes I have to really look for.

Again, that's just around me. Everyone's experience will differ.

The problem I have with pound shop metal tubes is that I only ever get to use them once, then they either dry up or split and spill everywhere. That said, I'm still using cheap stuff in bottles from Amazon. The brown/black ones from StarBond are very interesting though.
