Forest Ridge - September 30, 2014 - Sunset Time Lapse

Показать описание
This video starts out with a really beautiful sunset with the G1X. I'm using the histogram metering, which worked perfectly. However, as soon as the sun goes down, the brightest pixels (the sun) suddenly disappear. The meter then shifts to the clouds, which are about 1 f-stop darker than the sun, so there is a sudden increase in brightness (flash). It's more abrupt than with the standard (averaging) meters.
The second part of the video is with the fully zoomed SX50 on the Celestron Nexstar tracker. The sudden motions are all from me moving the tracker manually with the controller buttons. I also experimented with increasing and decreasing the exposure manually with the camera buttons. I was hoping to be able to see the "blood moon" part of the eclipse during the partial phase, but it looks like the white part of the moon will be too bright until just before total eclipse.
