His awakening, filled with awe and enthusiasm, proves a rebirth for Sayer too, as the exuberant patient reveals life's simple but unutterably sweet pleasures to the introverted doctor. Encouraged by Leonard's stunning recovery, Sayer administers the drug to the other patients. The story of their friendship during this emotional journey is a testament to both the tenderness of the human heart and the strength of the human soul.

My favorite Robin Williams movie. I'm not really a fan of his comedies, but I think his dramas are mostly excellent. I would say he was underrated as a dramatic actor, but I'm not sure he was. I think people mostly agree that he was a fine actor.

The opening scene where he walks out the front door of the brownstone was a few doors down from my family's house on 14th St in Park Slope. Williams character has my mom's married surname and another doctor in the film has my last name. Crazy alignment.

I saw this movie. So in the end, Leonard went back to being brain dead? When he was actually functioning THAT was his awakening. Him awake from his 30 year coma. Then at the end he slowly went BACK INTO his coma?
