Everyone loves a shared universe. Whether it's with comic books, movies, or television, we love to see our favorite mediums connected to other mediums. Movies get sequels, prequels, and franchises. Reboots happen. Tv shows get spin-offs or revivals. Different writers, directors, artists, creators, etc., all come together and continue a story in a set world. Stand-alone movies are later revealed to be connected to a bigger story. The most popular universe today is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Comic book characters from Marvel in film and now television tell stories that fit into a larger, bigger picture. The comic book superheroes then begin showing up in each other's movies and shared films and tv shows—post-credits scenes at the end of the film tease what's next. Even little clues and Easter eggs sprinkled throughout the movie for fan theories.
Recently I discovered a new universe, the Ayer cinematic universe named after director/writer David Ayer. David Ayer makes a lot of crime movies based in Los Angeles. He started off writing screenplays like The Fast And The Furious, Training Day, and S.W.A.T. He then started to direct films like Street Kings, End Of Watch, Fury, Bright, and Suicide Squad. The Ayer Cinematic Universe involves three movies: The Tax Collector, Training Day, and Harsh Times. The key threads are the actors/characters in those three movies: Cle "Bone" Sloan, Noel Gugliemi, aka Noel G, Terry Crews, and Samantha Esteban. Peep the science!
