you missed a few steps you should have a regular white dice that is missing the 6 side (it's blank) and you start by rolling to see how many pieces you start with, so not everyone starts with 5.

They reissued Quicksand Board Game from Cheatwell Games. The box is different. The player marker pieces are differently sculpted and the board is the same but different artwork.

If the owner reads this I found a Quicksand Board game by western publ8shing but the front cover is not like yours it also has a date of 1981 can you tell me any info on it. ??

Fantasy Flight Games has a game called Quicksand but it's different.

Yeah like others have said, you are missing an important piece, along with starting incorrectly. The game actually plays very fast. The white dice adds to your height and movement with each roll.
