WWE 2K22 Gameplay + New Features: Rey Mysterio vs Damien Priest!

Check out the first ever WWE 2K22 gameplay featuring Rey Mysterio vs Damien Priest, as we run through all of the new features and changes to gameplay!

Some of the changes to the gameplay in WWE 2K22 include the addition of combos, breakers, a dodge mechanic and a new stun meter that stops your opponent being able to reverse.

The pin system has also undergone a change, with the new pin system reminiscent of older games in which players have to button bash to kick out of a pinfall.

Compared to 2K19 and maybe 2K20, wrestlers 100% look less robotic in their movements and can actually throw punches and kicks compared to the other games. Camera angle looks good, but would love the option to switch between angles like you can on FIFA. Praying the game works on day release.

My only criticism is how painfully slow the ref's count is, it's unrealistic and will be so annoying in tag matches when the other team tries to beak the pin. Everything else is really positive so far.

really love that smokey arena effect for the Rey vs Kane match. Will be great for the old attitude era arenas! Looks Amazing overall

The fact they collide with the ropes now when they get suplexed against them is so good finally that realism is in a 2k game

Glad to hear about some of the changes, I think this is the make or break for the game as I'd happily exchange some clipping and rope problems for crisper impact and smoother fight mechanics which is what they seem to be aiming for - fingers crossed!

Everything’s fine it’s just the ref count is a little too slow it definitely needs to be sped up!

Realism mixed with the arcade feel. Love it. Not to big on the camera angle? But the flow of the moves are greatly improved and not so clunky.

I'm hopeful they definitely needed a change and this looks promising. It would be smart of them to drop a demo simply because so many people are hesitant after 2k20

the movement around the ring really has Day of Reckoning vibes, with everything having a feeling of weight to it

The only problem I have is that its usually the same pin animations each year, the one shown in the trailer looked very similar to the one we've had in previous years. I just want to see new pin animations as its quite tiring seeing the same one over and over again.

The only thing disappointing is kicking out of a pinfall. It was previously fun as it added the element of luck surprise for people to kickout rather now the wrestler will reach certain limit and they can’t kick out

Good thing February is the shortest month of the year cause I can't wait to get my hands on this game and see how different it hits myself looks really good just hoping to see the last gen versions soon as I haven't upgraded yet and I know it won't look as pretty as the new ones but I just want to see what I'm gonna be working with so far I'm excited to play just give me Attitude Era Kane again my favorite wrestler and I'm cool.

To add for the pinfall mechanic, we can also use the timing version if we wanted to. The devs confirmed in a tweet or something earlier in the week.

When they said hit different they wasn’t kidding the camera angle the buttons the stun meter this is a whole new game

The new gameplay seems a lot less complicated and confusing than I thought it mightve been. Definitely looks like you can go as much or as little strategy as you want. Also, loving the camera angles, and the lighting looks amazing. Especially that Kane vs. Rey footage! Looks awesome!

7:15 is a good example of the stun meter over the reversals is we can get reversals into reversals looks dope

When Damian Priest hit the Falcon Arrow it had that special move affect like the SVR games that's nice

It's looking good, the only thing I don't like is the button bashing for the pin. I think you should be giving the option to have either the button bashing or the mini game in the options. That would be better.
