I’m not even in med school and I have already developed these habits. Staying ahead of the game baby

I agree that you have to readjust to a slow, relaxed pace of eating while at a social gathering with friends. The tip I have heard that makes the most sense to me for slowing eating is to take one bite and then put your eating utensils all the way back down on the table. Do not pick anything back up until you have totally finished chewing and swallowing that one bite.

I agree these are bad habits.. but there's not much we can do to stop them. It's not like we can just suddenly all get a 30 min break time for lunch bc we are developing bad habits or shorten work hours because we want to sleep more.

👍Increase productivity and become highly efficient with these habits:
Focus on most important tasks first.

Cultivate deep work.

Keep a distraction list to stay focused.

Use the Eisenhower Matrix to identify long-term priorities.

Use the 80/20 rule.

Break tasks into smaller pieces.

Take breaks.

Make fewer decisions.

I've never understood the "too nasty to talk about during eating" thing. I've never had a thought while eating that's ruined my appetite, let alone make me puke involuntarily, lol. 🤮

I experience the same adrenaline rush. Since I'm usually running late or doing stuff in a hastened pace when I wake up, my body has become accustomed to a morning adrenaline rush but then the super dreadful midday crash. The adrenaline also is a main reason why i skip meals constantly. yeah, I have really poor sleep hygiene

#3. I used to resent my parents (engineers) so much for not being interested in what I’m learning. Now I get it, I’m desensitized

So on-point! The being used to sleep deprivation really got me, I'm working on it though, but wow you explained the feeling so well, now I understand why I dont wanna fall asleep at night but crave it when I'm dead tired 😂 thank you for this!

How do you feel about hard boiled eggs? I think it would be nice if the nurse station always had a secret stash of hard boiled eggs [ peeled of course ] that the interns and residents could use for a quick calorie and protein boost.

When I was doing CNA work I definitely did the super fast, super caloric meals thing. I started knocking back ensure plus a lot, which tastes like melted ice cream and is designed for people who are actually emacitated.
Being in preclinical med school is actually way less stressful than any of my clinical jobs.
