I'm DONE! With The Traxxas X-01 !

Hey guys. I spent the morning trying different things on the X-01 to get it to run straight. I tried changing the toe and the camber and then back to lke I have all my other cars set up for speed runs. I also put heavier batteries in to try and get it to have better traction. I checked all my linkages and servo saver for binding. I tried thick fluid in the rear and light in the front and then thick front and thin rear just to test it. I give up! The X-01 is going to be gone!
My plan is to build another Slash 4x4 Speed run car with the parts which are the A-Arms, drive shafts on all 4 corners, shock towers, differentials, wheels, 17mm hexes. and some other stuff. Not a lot will be wasted and the chassis and body will be sold on Ebay.
It's a shame but I have wasted too much time trying to get this car to run straight when I could be working on my other speed run cars or in this case on a car I know how to set up for speed. The X-01 is a tough nut to crack and I give my respect to anyone that has made them go 100 plus. The fastest so far is 155Mph by Grim Reaper Fireworks on Youtube. Check his channel out. I will stick to the cars I like which are the Arrma Infraction and Traxxas Slash. I need to focus more on these cars if I want to get to 130Mph and above.

I wish you lived a little closer so you could come by the shop I would help you get that thing dialed in. Please note the XO-1 is a very poor design and it takes an extreme understanding of high-speed cars to correct it. Traxxas did the RC world a disservice with that dangerous thing. I know you already parted it out but... I fixed the stability problem when I replaced the front steering bracket with an aluminum one from gpm. Before doing that it was sketchy at best.

Feeling the same way with my 1/8 infraction. Did aero, balancing, suspension tuning, but was still uncontrollable. Slapping an old 6s blx system in it and selling it.

Who told you toe in on your front and/or rear tires? 3-4 degrees toe in on the back 3-4D toe out on the front! NICE VID NICE DAY! !

I had problems with my XO-1 flipping over and getting sideways under acceleration. I fixed it by lowering the front and adding larger vertical wings to the ends of the spoiler. When it starts to get sideways the wind pressure on the vertical part at the end of the wing straightens the car back out without even letting off the power. By shortening the chassis it will shorten your turning radius, but make it harder to go straight. A longer vehicle is always harder to get sideways.

Looking at it there is alot of space on the sides for aero to get it more planted i would definitely try adding some side skirts like the f1 cars from the 80’s

Sorry to hear about the xo-1 it’s very unstable but did you try bsr foam tires one of my cars I had was not driving straight and I put foams on it and it cleared it up the car was going nice and straight those tires on there can get very slippery they lose traction easily and what kind of servo are you using that can be the problem as well torque steer can make the servo go In different directions stronger servo will can the wheels straight try that out if you want but if you are done with the car it understandable stay safe brother great video 🤙🏼

Wow I wasn't expecting that update for this car. I see your serious you even got the lcg kits ready to go. Good luck hope it works better as a slash 4x4 then a xo-1 for you.

I have had the same issues I also did what you have done But no success on my end neither
I realised the rear diff is faster gearing the the front so I swapped them over
But before installing it all back together I opened up the diffs and no diff oil at all dry as a bone
So I tried with diff oil 500k in front and 300k in rear got it to traction my better but no good for my noprep drag my limitless is 100% better and achieving the best ability out of the car for my needs doing well atm
X01 can be a nightmare I beleive they could of made it better for performance of traction
Tsm does not work neither I installed a gyro and still no luck so it's on the shelf atm

Yea when i bought my infraction and immediately saw how good it tracs i sild my xo-1 they are coming out with an xo-2 wich will go up to 150mph but until then my infraction it is

you need GPM aluminum steering bracket!!! $30!!!
stock plastic one will bend due to its thickness causing steering issue when trying to go straight. I had the same issue but fixed...

I've always wanted an x01 but could never justify price of it... and after I got into speedrunning I saw that not very many people were having Success With It as opposed to a limitless or infraction for less money....so sad.
