Thanks so much for another great lick (even though I'm late to the party). I have done shreddy bits for ages and my advice for anyone struggling would be to use economy picking and sweep down on the final downstroke to be faster and smoother.

Fascinating. I hadn't heard of the Fredman Mic Technique before. As you started playing the tracks, I was thinking there was going to be all kinds of phasing with the Mics being the same model, and so close to the same sound source location. There was phasing, but it magically cancelled out just the frequencies you'd want to get rid of. Remarkable! Now I have to read about Fredman and how that technique was discovered. Someone must have been paying very close attention, and recognized what it meant.
