Why is it’s Israel’s responsibility to provide water and electricity to an area that receives billions in foreign aid?

They never say anything when Hamas attacks Israel. They only say something when Israel decides to retaliate.

75% of palestinians support Hamas. I feel sorry for the children, but the grownups lay in the bed they made . FAFO, and right now they are finding out !

Israelis fighting on the ground have been interviewed and there was one Israeli paratrooper who said he is very sad to see anyone have to die in this fight... characterized the Palestinians as people of his own family because Israelis and Palestinians share DNA. He acknowledged that all civilians involved in this are human beings and the entire thing breaks his heart. So idk why John Oliver implies that Israelis have no sympathy.

We didn't have a cease fire with Japan and Germany until they were ready to surrender unconditionally.

Quoting HAMAS figures is like referencing Wikipedia in an academic paper

Ya know... i bring up the Palestinian people chanted death to America while having parades and just generally having a great time when they heard of 9/11. They did the same thing after 10/7 so its not just hamas... they voted them in, did nothing when they stole aid, did nothing when they dug massive tunnel system, did nothing when they fired missles rockets and mortars from behind hospitals schools mosquea, and they did nothing when hamas turned down any and all attemps for peace. I wonder how many are allowing them to stand behind their children so they can be praised as marytrs when they blow up with them. Dont sounds like innocent people or really good people. Really seeing these protest in NY down the road from the hole in the ground where 2 buildings stood makes no sense what so ever.

Oliver always waits a while before giving his "opinion " on ANYTHING. because he likes to get a feel for what the kids are rolling with first. That way he can tailor his pandering to say the right thing. Hes pathetic.

I used to watch and enjoy Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Then, over the past year, I've noticed how much his message was driven by lies and strange propaganda.

His show on Isreal and Hamas simply went so far past the line that it's hard to know how long ago he crossed it.

At the beginning of that segment, he started off by saying that there is a lot of history that he was choosing to ignore. Basically wiping out any and all context for what's been happening recently.

Then he goes on a 25 minute rant that tries to justify his support for terrorists. It's disgusting, and I hate him for being a terrorists propaganda talking head. He has actively made himself a net negative for the world.

John Oliver would have been ranting about the "pain" felt in the Japanese "community" on December 8, 1941.

Hamas won 74 seats by winning 30-45% of the vote in Gaza. Palestinians, like most other countries, have ranked choice voting and after the election a pole conducted in Gaza relieved that 41% of Palestinians supported Hamas and that Most of the people who supported Hamas did so because they thought the Fatah party was extremely corrupt. It's also been proven that during periods of strife and indiscriminate violence support for violent extremist tends to rise. Additionally the average population in Palestine is under 18, meaning that half of the Gazan population did not vote in 2006.

The Israel Defense Force (IDF) detained many members of the PLC (Palestinian Legislative Council) in the late 2000's meaning that the PLC ceased to function in 2010 after intense fighting between Hamas and Fatah factions. Hamas has refused to hold elections since 2006 due to concerns the conduct and administration of elections. The risk of repercussions for free expression has led some residents to self-censor; opinion polls in 2022 found that a majority of respondents said they could not criticize Hamas without fear.

The Palestinian Authority (PA) is not Hamas those are two completely different political groups and the PA were responsible for initiating the Oslo Accords (the peace talks between Israel and Palestine in the 1980's). So to say that the number of civilian casualties reported by the PA are Hamas numbers is a complete falsehood. Also the PA is mostly based in the West Bank, not Gaza

The Palestinians, according to the articles Crowder has put on screen, are receiving just over $500 million in AID from the U.S. not Billions, which is a significant distinction. Crowder is, of course referring to the cumulative aid given to Palestine vs the U.S. aid given to Israel in an attempt to make it seem like Palestine gets more money in aid than Israel. Germany for example gives Israel over 1 billion pounds in reparations payments every year, and the U.S. gives over $3 billion annually to Israel.

Under the Ottoman Empire religious freedom was completely allowed. There are Jewish Iranians, there are Christian Syrians, there is permitted open religious practices in Gaza under Hamas. It is not true that Muslims hate Jews. Many Muslims in the Arab world do Hate Israel, and there is a reason for that. It's called the Nakba, permitted and designed by Zionism. Many Zionists are not only Jewish, there are Christian Zionists and Atheist Zionists. David Ben-Gurion, th primary founder of the state of Israel was a self-proclaimed Atheist. And Judaism is a religion, not an ethnicity. And you know his because their are Ethiopian Jews, and they're Jews even tho they're not "ethnically Jewish". Also Arabs are a Semitic people. And the original Jewish inhabitants of Palestine in the 1930, under British occupation, before the creation of the Jewish state did not want to see a mass influx of Jewish settlers, not because they didn't like European Jews, but because there was already a people in Palestine. Had Jews, migrated to the middle East without a Zionist agenda, their would be not strife in the middle east between Jews and Arabs, because they lived in harmony for a thousand years.

Also Crowder said that Hamas broke a cease fire after Israel collapsed a tunnel in 2014. How did Israel collapse that tunnel in 2014?

The struggle between Israelis and Palestinians has always been a political struggle between an oppressed people and a colonialist state. The reason that the U.S. and Britain support Israel is because it's a state designed to promote strife in the region, and provide a foothold for western forces to exert control over western interests in the region. It's a big part of the reason that Iraqi's and Afghanis didn't view Americans as liberators during both wars in the middle east.

I'm a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, I served from 2011-2017 as a POG. A fundamental tenant of the Marine Corps ethos is to know your enemy. I fully believe in this tenant. One of the mistakes we, as Americans, are consistently making in the middle east and abroad is a lack of understanding of our own relationship with the region, a lack of understanding in the cultural norms of the people we've been sent to 'liberate' and govern; and, a tendency to underestimate the capabilities of a people who've been subjected to great trauma.
Additionally, we as Americans, are a people who've underwent a great trauma caused by the events of 9/11. We are also a people with history and a tendency to act like a hegemonic power. This, 'my way or the highway' type of attitude costs American lives. If we as a country are going to survive into the 21st century we have to acknowledge that we are not the only game in town. We as Americans need to understand that global opinion of our country and of our country's policies is important. And it's also important to know that if we, as a country are unwilling to be honest and impartial when it comes to matters of state, then we are only endangering our own citizens, both at home and abroad.
I never want to see a repeat of 9/11 that day will live in my memory forever as a great American tragedy, but Osama Ben Laden and his group of radical terrorists didn't just wake up one day hating America. They were radicalized, and the operations conducted in Iraq, Afghanistan, Ukraine, and Gaza today are radicalizing events. This country has plenty to worry about on the home front, we do not need to be heavily involved in the affairs of other countries like we are. We do need to maintain a ready, front-foot military capacity, both at home and abroad. But then you are consistently whacking people with a big fucking stick, the volume of your voice is inconsequential.

Of course there are going to be economic repercussions if the U.S. changes it's policies around the world when it comes to the cost of foreign goods. But those costs are already going to be more exorbitant with the changing tide of economic and military power of China and their budding alliances with African and South American countries. A role the U.S. has abdicated for a long time, to our detriment. We are now at the stage of empire in which consolidation is a prudent step, much like the British Empire at the end of WWII. It is right to admit that. Because only when you know yourself, can you seek self improvement, and we need to play the long game.

I support an Israeli state, and a Palestinian state. I support investigations into the practices of both Hamas and Israel, for all of these reasons, it's also imperative that we support a ceasefire, and allow for the possibility of a Palestinian exit from Gaza conducted and up held by the U.N. It does not have to be a long ceasefire, depending on the conditions on the ground.

Really irritates when foreigners come here, live in luxury in the greatest country on the face of the earth, and then spend every waking moment criticizing everything about this country. In this case blame the victims when said victims fight back.

@ 1:10 - Israel left Gaza in 2005. Gaza was a free state. Israel is still a tiny country surrounded by hostile forces. There were no major actions since. Then Hamas invaded on 10/7/2023. The reason for the war is this attack.
