When our teenage daughter was constantly getting into trouble I contacted the police and set up a sting. I had to do that twice. They were more than happy to come to the house on the pretense 'someone' reported her. They never told her it was me. I didn't tell her until she was in her 30's. She grew up to be a fine woman.
I hope and pray the cops aren't hesitant to do that anymore - after the whole Freddy Gray, BLM, Anarchist, defund debacle.

Same story-different ending. Young kid tells dad there's a bad guy in his closet. Dad checks carefully and asks his son to go with him to the kitchen for some ice cream, then grabs his handgun and holds the guy from the closet for the police. True story. My primary firearms instructor (a police captain) told this story to his class.

Sad that this is celebrated when it should be what the police are doing. Safeguarding the public. One child saved from trauma is going to be a healthy law abiding adult.
