Laura is one of those unforgettable ballads, favorite of many jazz lovers.
Originally written by the american composer David Raksin in 1945 for the movie with the same title.
It has been recorded by many jazz legends, among the vocalist is worth mentioning the ones from Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald (the evocative lyrics of this song were written by the great Johnny Mercer).

There are many outstanding instrumental recordings as well such as the
one by Charlie Parker with Strings or the one by the Erroll Garner Trio.

This tune was probably one of the first standards I ever played when I was still a teeneager, so it brings me good memories about the time when I discovered jazz for the first time.
I particularly like this arrangement which includes a beautiful verse (not often heard) before the actual song starts.

As a bonus I leave this surprising interpretation of Laura by Raksin himself!

The first song I played played when I was a teenager and still play it today at the age of 81
But now I have the ability to expand the melody with more inventiveness

Beautiful song by Raskin. Try breaking up your rhythmn, though. Way too robotic.
