I appreciate Dana giving Joe that well deserved credit.

While Rogan wasn't the first person to start a podcast, he did pioneer the format in many ways, encouraging many people from intellectuals to fighters to start their own. Really driving forward the podcast era and fundamentally changing how people obtain media. Joe has been integral to selling UFC to new audiences both through educating the masses on fighting and through entertainment in his commentary. He worked at the UFC for free in the early days. That's two different highly successful new industries which Joe can take some considerable credit for. Plus he has not only had lots of personal success in stand up comedy, he has created so much opportunity for his comedian friends and peers.
Any praise is well-deserved

This is actually a great point. Joe's walking through the grappling was crucial in the beginning.

Joe Rogan brings a perspective to MMA that people wouldn’t know and makes it interesting - I’ve listened to so many fighters in his podcast and became an instant fan of those fighter just to hear their stories and insight into the sport - a lot of those beasts you see tearing apart their opponent are actually intelligent and soft spoken and interesting just like many other athletes in other popular main stream sports.

Joe is a walking fight encyclopedia. Not on paper but in person. Imagine how many fights he has witnessed fist hand. From the beginning days all the way until now. Joe is a fight savant, and as a true pioneer and fan of the sport sometimes you follow certain fighters and get excited to call their fights. No more. No less.

Wow, as a Chess Player i'm impressed Teddy remembered 1972 World Chess Championship between Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky

It’s beautiful the way Rogan can condense such a plethora and magnitude of physical technique into the two words ‘he’s hurt!!!’

It’s the simplicity of it for me 🤩

If it weren't for Joe, I'm positive that the UFC wouldn't have nearly the same reach

I started watching mma because JRE 7 or 8 years back, now I can name every ufc title fight in history. By weight class, champion, and defense. I feel like a lot of people are in my boat.

Joe was right all along, MMA swallowed boxing, but it wasnt bad blood, it was evolution, we as a community welcomed Teddy and anyone else from that side that saw this sport for what it really was (not human cock fighting)

This is so true, the very first time I watched a UFC event I couldn't tell what the fuck was going on when the fight hit the mat and Rogan was out there walking the viewers through the process. I legitimately remember thinking how passionate and educated on the subject matter the commentator was how this was probably the best commentary I've heard, it wasn't just backdrop it was just straight up teaching me about the sport.

Wow I did not expect a guy with that accent in a conversation about UFC make a reference to Fischer vs Spassky :P

Joe Rogan at the time was a bigger star then the ufc from his fear factor days when it first started and brought fans as well.

I started watching joe rogan's podcast a couple years ago and the only reason I got into the ufc was because of him and the passion he showed for mma

Listening to Joe passionately talking about the UFC during his podcast is awesome. I love the fact that Joe commentated a number of the early UFC events for free. That early support really paid dividends for both Dana and Joe.

Joe also has his 200 million listeners which I’m sure he’s turned many of them to the ufc

Mike Goldberg also doesn't get enough credit. I know he wasn't always the most knowledgeable about the technical aspects of fighting but the way he'd intensely but clearly narrate what was happening was phenomenal and really got you hyped. He has some of the all time greatest calls in UFC history, I also enjoyed his chemistry with Joe and how they complimented each other's styles.
