Cried when you said " just feel old all of a sudden" I had felt like I hit a wall.... your simple explanation of the disease is well appreciated. Had my surgery last week and looking forward to feeling better!

Thank you so much. I just found out I have this because I'm vit D deficient and as a result have higher PTH levels. Your headline about feeling old is so me! Watching your explanation has made me feel normal, that I'm not going crazy as I literally have felt this feeling of not feeling up to the task as I used to. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge in such a clear and kind way.

Thank you so much. You just broke down what my endocrinologist has been trying to tell me. I have been dealing with all of these symptoms and he is an amazing doctor here in KCMO. He just had not broken everything down the way you just did. The one thing that both of you have reassured me of is that it is CURABLE. I can finally get my life back. The depression was starting to take over and I was just about to give up. Thank you so much…this has really helped me.😢

Thank you. I've been hospitalized twice since 2019, misdiagnosed. I knew something was wrong but couldn't explain it. I finally insisted on bloodtest and was diagnosed this week. There is anger in having felt shame and thinking I was defective, only to learn it was something out of my control. Thank you for the hope.

I have tears in my eyes from your graph. My fatigue and SI, hip and knee pain has changed my life. High PTH levels (4x normal) but normal calcium levels. You have given me hope for my future life after surgery.

Thank you for sharing. Your video is very helpful. My endocrinologist tested me a few months ago and I was diagnosed with hyperparathyroidism. I had a nuclear scan and CT scan completed. I will have surgery in one week. I have all of the symptoms in your graph. I'm staying hopeful that after my surgery my life will be back to normal.

I had some blood tests with my GP and advised my calcium was low and prescribed calcium for 14 days. In the mean time noticed a lump in my neck, went for an ultrasound and now referred to head and neck team as it’s my parathyroid gland with some swollen lymph nodes. All the symptoms you describe make me believe I have hyperparathyroidism. Thank you for this informative video

The visuals really helped me understand. Thank you! I’m a pre-50 postmenopausal woman with osteopenia, and several years with slightly elevated calcium levels but normal PTH levels. My endocrinologist ordered DNA testing to see if this is “normal” for me or if I need to move forward with surgery.

Almost all the symptoms here apply to me. I've literally been suffering with fatigue and other aches and pains for a long time, and severely the past year. I'm in the process of having many tests. This week is the nuclear scan. I can't wait to feel better. Thanks for confirming that I am not totally crazy, yet! Great video.

I had the surgery a month ago. I don't feel different but I think it's extremely important to have it done!

My husband had surgery 48 hours ago with a skilled parathyroid surgeon. My husband had severe mental health issues including crying, anxiety, terror; he always said "I don't feel right in my core", had SO MANY kidney stones, severe reflux, gait problems [read a study of a woman who had gait problems, too], terrible fatigue on top of his chronic fatigue already diagnosed, etc etc, he was on the decline. Luckily our primary care M.D. was a good one. Noticed the Vitamin D and calcium numbers and referred us to an endocrinologist. Quickly post surgery, he could tell the difference. It's wonderful to see the increased energy and not hear moaning all night, or panic, he can process information, he is happy. btw, he needed no pain meds or anything else. He could even swallow everything (they tell you to do a liquid diet but he didn't). In fact, the outcome was so amazing that the next morning we went out to eat as normal people with normal lives. Each day his mental health gets better, don't know about the reflux. His long 3 hr naps are less and he feels refreshed finally.

My domestic partner had two of the parathyroid glands removed October 29th 2024. She has suffered from symptoms of chronic fatigue, brain fog, confusion, forgetfullness, anger, anxiety for year and years and despite me having her view many post op videos she thought she was going to be healed of all symptoms the next day. She was actually hysterical and wanted to be taken to an emergency clinic because she still had all the symptoms. I managed to get her to calm down and convinced her that she has to take it day by day -- years and years of symptoms don't neccessarily disappear overnight. Now a week later she is noticing improvement and is hopefull instead of depressed and fatalistic.

What a great and detailed explanation. I have been diagnosed with hyperparathyroidism and have an adenoma. They're still discussing my treatment options

Oh my. This is the information I have been looking for. Been trying to explain this to my Dr. 55 and been very active and within last 9 months I hit the wall.

Of course I landed in the 20% presenting with kidney stones! LOL My parathyroidectomy is next week. I am hoping to have increased energy, concentration, and NO kidney stones afterward! I'm glad to learn more about this condition. Once I was diagnosed so many things made sense. Thanks for the great video.

Great explanation of hyperparathyroidism. Is it true that it is more common in women than men?
