In the same speech he praised Labour for deporting 50, 000 people from 2009-2010. A period in which Britain was inside the EU and subject still to the ECHR. Clearly therefore the ECHR isn’t the obstacle to deportation he claims.

He spoke at length of the contentious issue of smuggling gangs and lives lost on the sea but will never talk about the solution which are safe routes.

Leaving the ECHR sounds a lot like Leaving the EU only that neither will do anything but compound people's misery but does he care?

About as much as his vow of Leaving the UK if Brexit was a failure;last time I looked it up Clacton is a part of the UK but maybe he meant he'd stay IF elected as an MP!
