I own a BYD in my home in Thailand and it's fantastic! I really don't care if it's Chinese or not. I care about living my life. These politicians and their ego is too much

No new innovations from Europe only lecture about human rights, minority rights, immigrants rights...

China also has EVs but they're selling it lower with better quality. These Western companies refuse to fix their issues. The average person can't even afford cars nowadays. It's not even the EVs... companies are just plain greedy. I hear many Americans complaining about overpriced $80, 000 pickup trucks that depreciate fast.

Look at the mobile phone industry as a reference.
Where are those mobile phone manufacturing giants now: Nokia, Ericsson, Siemens, Alcatel, Phillips, Motorola, BlackBerry, Sony, ...

The reason is when you're a legacy car maker. You protect your cash cows, and fail to innovate. Inflexibility. How has the war in ukraine affected EU.

Once upon a time European cars and American cars ruled the Chinese market, which is the largest in the world. Chinese roads were full of Vw, GMs, Audi and BMWs....fast forward just 10 years... it's a shadow of what it was. They dropped the ball on EVs R&D.

As a Chinese, my hometown government's biggest tax comes from car manufacturing, joint venture manufacturing German cars, Japanese cars, and French cars. In recent years, due to the sudden rise of domestic cars, our joint venture car companies have been greatly affected. Now in the Chinese market, we can no longer see French cars and Korean cars. The sales of Japanese and German cars have also declined significantly. My hometown car companies have a large backlog of French cars. Under the condition of government subsidies, the price of 30, 000 dollars of cars will be reduced to 15, 000 dollars for sale. If you are Chinese, you must know where I am from. If you spend more than $30, 000 in EV in China, you will get a car with more than 10 airbags, lidar, automatic driving, automatic parking, several display screens, wireless charging of mobile phones, massage seats, seat ventilation, karaoke and other functions. If it is an EV, you will only pay between $0.01-0.02/KM

They already lost huge mkt share in the most important mkt China, where Chinese EVs already have 50%. This is a 23M /yr mkt which was very profitable in the past. They also slashed prices by an average of US15-18k which will hurt profits. This is the beginning of the end. It’s all downhill from here.

China should lead the world. As an Indian I wish Indians also go global. But China deserves this and end the US and Europe dominance.

For past 30 years I have owned (and maintain it myself) only German cars. Namely Mercedes. I can tell you, over the years the amount of plastic has increased dramatically. More plastic, more problem as the car ages. Today it is a nightmare to keep 15+ year old Mecedes in top notch condition due to brittle plastic in the engine bay. If Germans drive down the quality, there is no reason for the premium. German engineering is being diluted by bean counters and management very fast. They are shooting themselves on their own foot.
