In the concert “This Is It”, many songs contained a video vignette, which was planned to be played before/after the performance of the song. However, in the movie, due to time constraints, the videos were edited during the rehearsal footages of the song. There were also many interactions planned between the live performance and the virtual video, such as

1) at the end of “Thriller” video intro, a spider would attack the camera, and then a real spider would appear simultaneously on the stage;

2) at the end of “Smooth Criminal”video intro, MJ would jump onto the camera, and then MJ would jump onto the stage through the door on the physical screen;

3) during “MJ Air”, MJ would walk up into the door on the physical screen, which was mapped to the graphics of a plane gate.

But the movie failed to present these features. So the original intention of this series was to recreate these effects by video, also changing the re-recorded music with the actual rehearsal instrumentals uploaded by Sugarfoot. (Although Sugarfoot’s versions were actually less similar to how the actual concert would sound like than the music in the movie, since these were recorded on an earlier date, without MJ’s adjustments.)

The only songs containing a video vignette were “Thriller”, “Man in the Mirror”, “Smooth Criminal”, and “Earth Song”. Since I have completed all 4 of these, this is likely to be the end of this series. Thank you so much for your support. I have learned a lot, both technical-wise and MJ-wise, during this process.
