The cover is so people are aware that your causing false alarms, you need to pull the fire alarm. If the cover “notified the whole building” then the fire alarm wouldn’t be there, so the key IS to pull the fire alarm

Fun fact when you lift the cover there’s actually a switch to unmute or mute

My elementary school had that exact pull station and if you pulled the cover it made a sound. (I know because one time a kid pulled the fire alarm)

The key is NOT to just pull the cover, you have to pull the cover and pull the alarm. I am from the UK but you do need to pull the alarm

This is not right. After you pull the sti stopper ALWAYS pull the fire alarm. The alarm of the sti stopper is just to alert that it’s been lifted. It’s not going to alert the entire building.

The key is to pull the alarm in case of emergency the plastic cover alarm doesn’t alert the whole building it’s just to warn of a kid trying to pull the alarm to make a fake emergency

For those wondering: the cover makes an alarm Incase of a small fire that can be put out, the small alarm will alert all nearby people, causing a saving situation. HOWEVER, if the fire is very big, and already beyond control, that’s when the building must be evacuated.

Ok note to self, in case of fire i just open the cover and ignore the actual alarm and only notify the people in A 10ft radius

A couple months ago I was bouncing a small tiny ball on the floor straight up to me but then when it was coming up it was spinning super fast so when it hit the ground, it went flying forward and it hit that cover which sounded the false alarm which scared everyone around it but I didn’t get in trouble because it was deemed “an accident”

The plastic cover AKA the STI stopper is used to prevent false alarms and pull station damage. In order to activate the FACP and alert the whole building you need to pull the pull station.
