It’s now been confirmed he’s joining Forest…

Edu was an important piece in the restructuring and improvement of the club. People move on and sometimes that is an opportunity to step up again. I think the key criteria for his replacement is that he comes with a good set of connections.

Right now we can't say if it's a good or bad thing, it depends on who we replace him with.

Edu has done well though not extent I expected. However he failed to get a killer strike during the last transfer window in which in my opinion was not good.

Signing Willian alone was a sackable offence

It’s amazing how everyone’s know the in’s and outs about Edu’s signings.

Bring in Bergkamp! Arsenal Heritage and a genuine influence on young footballers. This appointment alone could potentially galvanise the January window.

It's positive sign that Josh, in his statement, said that Edu's successor will reflect the club's ambition to win trophies. This hints at an external recruit. I was worried they might go for another internal promotion (which would likely mean a Yes Man). It's key that the Sporting Director is able to challenge Arteta and not just say "what do you need Coach?". It's the Sporting Director that sets the club's philosophy/playing style and the Manager must align with that vision NOT the other way around where the Manager sets the direction. Or else, you'd have to completely rebuild the squad with every new manager which isn't sustainable for a club like us.

This is not the end of the world. I see edu in the same way as i see ramsdale, smith rowe etc. People who helped in bringing us out of the shambles we were and turned us back into a top club but we need even better to become a winning club.

With Timber at RB and Calafiori at LB, we did ok in attack.. Calafiori injury waa a big blow.

I think new sporting director could be good for arsenal. He will have something to prove. He will be under pressure too. Just the replacement should be Spot on.

This might be a pivotal moment in the right direction or the wrong direction. My gut says something is going on behind the scene and Edu has lost faith or hope.

This will be as much as an opportunity and chance to improve and go a step further as our summer transfer window was and we didn't do it

Some great perspective in the 2nd half of this vid! This is what the Newcastle review needed a little bit off 😄

It’s about keeping pace for the first 3/4 and then building serious momentum for the final quarter of a season. That’s still very much possible. Liverpool having a lead puts pressure on them. Onwards we go 💪

Don't get me wrong, when I heard the news I was shocked, but at the same time I wasn't really bothered either. When Edu came in, I expected us to be a lot more active in the Brazilian market, especially when it comes to highly rated young Brazilian talent, but while Chelsea and City were signing Estevao and Savinho respectively, we signed Marqinhos.

Yes. I think you have this one right about Edu. I also agree that Arsenal have got a lot of their toughest games out of the way. Hopefully they can take advantage of this.

We won't know the significance of this until like 2-3 seasons down the line. Edu carried himself well and did a good job

I think he did a good job overall despite all the negativity atm. There has been at least 2 windows where we should have took advantage of our position but we dont know what funds were available & what Arteta or Edu wanted. The last window for me was a lost opportunity but u could argue that we did strengthen before injuries. We're all deflated atm & most of us likely wanted a striker or winger before the out-goings with exception of Nketiah as for years the squads felt so close yet so far.. Wengers faith in players while allowing others to leave left us a bit short that if we'd been more ruthless in those moments we may have won a league or 2 towards the end. But as for Edu, Im not sure we should be happy about the loss unless we have a new person in his position who is going to push the owners for investment in the windows to give Arteta the platform he needs or will get if he went to a City etc.. That investment *now* while we have a spine/ foundation in the team, to be a challenger rather than risk losing these players is surely an investment that is far more likely to pay off in the long run than getting a Sterling in last minute on a loan for a year and get money off an opponents wage bill yet get the mins to actually work....
