Rule the Waves - Let's Play Germany - 01 Getting Started

Let's Play Germany in Rule the Waves, a naval fleet combat simulator including budget management and ship design.

THIS EPISODE: We setup a new game as Germany, using historical budget (which will make things harder) and building our own legacy fleets from scratch. After setting up our starting fleet, we choose our research and complete the first turn.

Rule the Waves places you in the role of 'Grand Admiral' during the early years of the 20th Century. You manage the naval affairs of your chosen nation while navigating between the desires and demands of your own government, the efforts of potential adversaries, and the affairs of your potential allies.

The battle resolution mechanics are based upon our successful Steam and Iron (SAI) system for combat but technichal, economic and foreign policy decisions will also be necessary as the player guides their navy's design, construction, deployment and operations during a period of great technological innovation and political tensions.

Ohhh something to play once I wrap up my War in the Pacific game. I did some dabbling with Ultimate Dreadnoughts early access and was enjoying that and when I watched your video I saw you refer to this.

Between you and Drachinifel my interest in the setting is piqued and THIS seems like my kinda jam!

Welcome to a new let's play series on RULE THE WAVES! We hope to turn the German fleet into the world's dominant navy just as she dreamed at the start of the 20th century.

Don't feel too bad about those starting UK 13.5" guns. They absolutely suck, horrible accuracy and abysmal fire rate. The breech block was completely unscrewed and removed from the gun to load it, giving a rate of fire of about 30 rounds per hour. After about a hundred rounds per gun, extra copper bands had to be hammered into a ring on each shell to engage the rifling!
