#shorts Haki is our friend's dog and is staying with us a for a couple of days. She seems to have anxiety when I leave the house and therefore I didn't want to take any chances so I got her inside the bathroom when I took a shower. I know this isn't the best way to teach dogs to get rid of separation anxiety but its one step at a time. She is in a new environment and I want her to be comfortable and trusting of us, tomorrow we will try something else.

If you are wondering what breed Haki is - Weimaraner (it is basically like a cousin breed of Walle - German Shorthaired Pointer)

To help minimize separation anxiety, you have to start giving velcro dogs space btwn you & them meaning, don’t allow them to follow you around all the time. If you get up & they hop up to follow, you correct them & put them back in the seated place they were just in. It takes time, but after getting them used to not hopping up & following you 24/7, they start to learn & become more comfortable w/ some space btwn themselves & their owners. We may enjoy or not mind our dogs following us around, but we have to do it for them. It’s much better for their nervous systems <3
