In Munich some years ago on Pasxa some Greeks were roasting lamb and people passing by called police because they thought they were roasting a dog 😂😂😂

Margaritsa, on Saturday night after fasting ( nistisimo ) for 40 days lined your stomach for Sunday's lunch . How do I know ! I lived in Greece for 23 years, Saturday afternoon washing the lamb on the veranda, sewing it up after putting it on the spit Kotosouvili Kokoretsi all ready on their spits . Then off to the church where we waited for the light to leave the church to announce the rising of Jesus . I live in the UK now after being divorced from my ex Greek wife 9 years ago, I really do miss the Greek Pasxa . Zhto Ellas.

We celebrate Orthodox Easter at midnight Saturday night-Sunday morning. We have lighted candles and we walk around the church about 1:30 in the morning and we take the lighted candles with us. Orthodox Easter is after the first full moon, After the spring equinox and the Jewish Passover.

Orthodox Easter changes each year. I converted to Orthodoxy after being in Russia. We have Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Biloxi, Mississippi; so I know a lot of Greek, Russian, Arabic, and other Christ is Risen phrases.
