A tour of the Three Gorges Dam

The Three Gorges Dam is the world's largest hydroelectricity project.

Like a giant door, the dam locks the exit of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze river. The rapidly running water is retaining in an enormous reservoir, 600 kilometers in length and 175 meters above the river. The dam not only generates electricity, but also controls flooding.

China can undertake a project to reduce the load of the Three Gorges Dam by installing Small Modular Reactors (Mini-nuclear plants) in strategic locations far from the dam.
