How to set up Facetime on Mac

Facetime is available on just about any Mac, Macbook, Macbook Pro, and iMac.

With Facetime, you can start video calls with anyone using an Apple device such as another Mac computer, iPhone, or iPad.

All you need is an internet connection to connect to wifi and an Apple ID login.

Here is the step by step guide of setting up Facetime on Mac:

1: Launch the Facetime app or search for it in the application folder of your Mac.

2: login with your Apple ID

3: click on Facetime on the top menu and go to preferences

4: select which phone number or email you want to use for Facetime from your Apple ID.

5: To start a call, type in someone's name, email, or phone number.

6: Select video or audio to start a call.

Starting at the point where you go to settings, I have to go to applications and find Facetime, but from that point onwards none of the pictures you're showing on the screen can be found. My iMac is a late 2015 model, but I should be able to set this up correctly. Very regularly I get a message saying my iPhone must use the same iCloud and Facetime account, but as far as I know I DO. Yet I regularly get the error message and don't seem to be able to change it. However, when I go to Whatsapp or to Messenger and find the person I want to call I have no problem having the call on my iMac. It's only when I've found a phone number that's not on my contact list that I want to dial from my iMac that I get the error message.

Hello, I'm not able to do video calls on FT, only audio calls, i have no video option. I went into my privacy prefs and FT isn't even in there to give camera access to. Might you have a suggestion? Thank you very much.

Thanks for the video! Can you help? Seems to be something wrong with my Facetime: I can type in a contact, but there are NO green buttons at the bottom for audio- or video- call. At the top it doesn't show "All" or "Missed" - it has a light/dark grey double button "Video" and "Audio", but when I enter a name, those buttons disappear off the top. What the heck am I doing wrong?? Thanks ;-))

FaceTime on iMac is surprisingly trash. None of my contacts link up ever....Something like he's doing at 3:08. Lol I've been tryin to do that for months. Only 4 Contact show up and can be searched.

When setting up FaceTime at the beginning you went to preferences. when I go to the dropdown, preferences is faded out and I can't click on it. am I doing something wrong? or does something else need turned on first?
