Really nice to see GGG come back with a fix for the warden issue without nerfing taming into the ground, and so quickly too!

Slight correction. Glass shank IS getting its base crit increased. It is a typo that was fixed. Glass shank wasnt supposed to be listed under the 7% pathnote, but rather the 7.5% patchnote.

"Flaying Knife, Glass Shank, and Skinning Knife now have a base Critical Strike Chance of 7.5% (previously 6%)." This is the real one.

Glass Shanks got nerfed back down, because they are the base type that animate weapon pulls from when it uses blades. Buffing their base crit is an Animate Weapon buff

The concern about faking a popular trading currency is a good one to mention, but it isn't risk-free for the people trading things back and forth in esoteric currencies. You can't choose who you're trading with in this system, so anyone who notices that someone is doing this to make it look like a simulacrum is worth two redeemer's exalted orbs when it's actually worth one, can offer their own simulacra at that price and make a profit at these people's expense. (They could then trade the redeemer's exalted orbs for chaos and then chaos for more simulacra to close the loop, of course.)

You'd have to spend quite a lot of gold to manipulate the market.
They won't include non-market trades in the numbers.
And if a new price is significantly different they can delay using it until it has been confirmed by a number of other trades.

Great vid, really love the insights into potential abuse cases for the currency exchange system & potential solutions.

Another nice bonus of the currency exchange system is that you have 0 risk of getting scammed.

Another strategy I think people might be using is typosquatting. I.e. list currency for a ridiculous markup in case someone mistypes a trade listing by e.g. forgetting a 0.

how much price manipulation will happen depends on how well stock market visualization will be - some public api on poe ninja with regular updates goes a long way in spotting manipulations

I think they could also weight the popular items by trade origin name, favoring more unique entries.

I think the biggest friction to currency exchange bots is going to be the way the market is going to work now trading is no longer annoying. We used to pay a premium for bulk currency because the trading process was so annoying I'd always first try to buy my stuff with chaos equivalent before ever even considering chopping off my own foot and then reluctantly finally resorting to the currency trade market in that order of preference. Now with an instant buyout system that requires no further supervision I think both sides will experience far less friction and therefore I suspect flipping margins will go down rather drastically as compared to what they are in the current state of the game where people would in some cases pay double as long as they only have to do it once.

Honestly think the simplest solution to the auction house price fixing would be to just have the option to view the chaos/divine equivalent of any given trade. The market already has this data, and it’s unlikely that the chaos and divine price of items will be influenced much. Then you can easily compare and see if a certain trade is over/under priced

So awesome to see another instantaneous trade where we don’t need to interact with other peoples hideouts being added into the game

I think the esoteric trades for esoteric currency will get washed out pretty easily, and I'd be surprised if doing enough trades to beat either divine or chaos orb trades was feasible. We need gold to do most league mechanic upgrades, so giving up progression there for currency exchange shenanigans is going to feel like a steep cost since it directly reflects your play time.

I just thought of an excellent idea, have a public log in the currency market of all the trades that have happened, so anyone can look and see that "oh this group of people have been trading these two items between each other". This will make it clear that an item is artificially high, and how it happened.

They could fix the price fixing ping-pong: If two accounts are bouncing a trade back and forth more than three times they delate between one being able to see something posted by the second increases rapidly. After the third trade the delay would be 30 seconds, the fourth 1 minute, the fifth 5 minutes... a logarithmic escalation of delays until the two players simply can no longer see each other's orders.

You raise some good points about how the currency market could be manipulated. While it appears the market does give a little bit of information about the ratios currently being traded, I'm not sure if it says how many players are offering those trades. I would think 1 person would be able to offer 5+ absurd trades of the same currency and it would only provide information to the buyer that there are 5+ trades at this price. If we had a little more information such as how many players are offering this specific trade it might help the buyer make a more informed purchase.
But maybe you can only make one trade of the specific currency ratio. Which would make my concerns unwarranted.

Thing I'm most afraid of with the auction house is pricefixing for exceptionlally rare currencies and commodities like Mirrors or Hinekoras Locks.
The leaders of TFT have been engaging in this activity every league and feels like it'll be worse than ever this league. They'll just buy up every mirror on the auction house at certain points and relist them for 20-30% more divines over night to keep jacking up the price so they can RMT more and keep their business afloat.
Not sure what the solution to this is. This was a problem with the old trade system too, but seems like it'll be easier than ever to abuse now.
