Building a Maps Application: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Tutorial

Показать описание

Join me as I build a Google Maps clone from scratch using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript while traveling on a train! 🚂🌍 This tutorial covers everything from loading map images and using the canvas element, to integrating the geolocation API for real-time location updates. Learn how to work with different map projections, like equirectangular and Mercator, and see how to display coordinates on a custom map.

In this video, I go through:
- Finding and loading equirectangular maps
- Setting up a basic HTML and CSS structure
- Using the canvas element for map rendering
- Converting latitude and longitude to cartesian coordinates
- Implementing geolocation to show your current position
- Debugging and fixing common issues
- Adding support for multiple map projections

Thanks for watching and happy coding! 🚀

Fun little project. Next use tiles, so you can zoom. Open street map provides tiles, same with google.

Add some other features like zoom with new pictures and new squares. Also scroll on the map and loads different areas
