John love the house, my only thought in the upgrade process is you need to punch out a pass through from the bar room to the patio area and have a 2 sided bar with the glass roll up window, make a new bar top out of some of your slabs and do an L shaped bar that wraps that corner extending outside and around the front and then do a big bottle rack with storage on half of the opposite wall keeping the dart board cabinet where you plan, and then the back wall to the right of the window floating shelves with rail on top for pint glasses and slots to hang wine glasses from the bottom.

Looks like you're getting back to some of your older style content, and I love it!

I know Sam's moved on to other things, but I'd also love to see more shop challenges (one sheet one board) and three level builds, but the I can't wait to see the liquor cabinet either.

My wife went into labor when we didn't know she was pregnant while grouting tile flour with me on a DIY kitchen remodel. Can you believe she didn't help finish rest of project!

This is amazing! Congrats on the big life changes! The garage gym is a great idea, wanted to pose an alternative / co-habituating suggestion to start a "1 car garage shop outfit" series where you talk beginner tools (or have Jordan or Sam lead the series and get more experience hosting with you there for comedy and flair) through building out a hobbyist shop to "get squirrely" in the home and still be able to knock out projects.

You could even follow your signature "3 levels" approach and using your shop as the "advanced" baseline, exhibit a beginner and intermediate level workshop for those weekend warrior types who still enjoy making sawdust.

For beginner, focus on quality tools which dont break the bank and are useful for doing the pocket hole joinery and plywood construction many folks want to do.

For intermediate, focus on stuff like jointer, planer, and talk about the intermediate steps you took to get to where you are today. Maybe focus on how to incorporate larger purchases like a table saw which dont take up a ton of room into a workflow in a limited space.

Optional bonus - every project you build in the house could have the 3 levels - what you'd do beginner, intermediate, and expert and you want to keep the expert build quality, but content is king so you can have 3 for 1 videos for each project and give us who dont yet have their dream home ideas for how to make do.

Bonus #2 - having triple the available plans and "bundles" available for every piece that shows more info about how you do it from each perspective.

Congratulations John! My wife and I lost out on 12 offers before finally getting our home. But the wait was so worth it. And from the look of it, yours was as well. And it'll only get even sweeter as you transform it into your own with the upcoming projects. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Ps- a living room furniture line would be awesome. So long as you can ship it and my wife likes it, I'd be interested.

Wow that new home build situation is not some small deal. You pick the lot, pick the home all the options and watch the process happen just to have the foundation crack. We just went thru the build process and thankfully that didn’t happen, not sure what we would have done. Congrats on the home!

Congratulations on your new home!🍾🥂It’s beautiful and so is your family. I want to build a large round dining table as well, that has a big Lazy Susan in the middle.
In the bar.. On either side of the window, I’d build floating walnut shelves with smoky grey resin and built in LED’S. Hiding the outlets behind the shelves so, when you push the shelves into place it plugs in the LED’s. For the shelving design check out Black Forest wood Co. recent bar build video.
In the playhouse.. add a ‘secret’ cubby with a hidden door that’s big enough for her and a couple of friends, she will love it! Can’t wait to see all of these projects!

Good to see your doing well, healthy comment section you have also ..
Tree house will turn out awesome lol ..
I have a couple ideas for my own home gym, some are down the road a tad, but if you know what stall bars are I adapted an idea from them .. two 2x6s and two 2x4s run through a planer rout the edges fix them together, secure them to the wall, where the bars would be instal a Heavey duty ring, and a additional attachment for my resistant bands .. mine are cut at 8' not installed yet, but I'll place them about 4 ' apart I'm thinking around there, over 12 angles and heights to attach my resistant bands and I can use them together for standing press, PEC flys anything in that order . I want to make stall bars to, but other things have to be first, , saving up for a assault air bike, a power rack is on my mind, rogue has a few that look like they are braced to the wall also, and it looks like you can buy those braces separately from the rack .. I didn't get a good look at you gym space, first you said guest room than u said garage, I'd personally if I could pick, I'd pick garage for the gym . Hang a heavy bag, I like rowing machines .. slam balls are fun, I have reloadable dumbbells, but they are important same with kettle bells . I'm looking into reverse hypers too, an area to stretch to .. you can definitely go harder in a garage gym, I'm worried about the floors in my old house, even with mats on the floor, if anything rattles loose . It happens I once knocked the eye beam loose in a old house I lived in when I was 20, I Hun the bag on it not thinking, , the whole floor shifted and all the flooring warped .. but from what I saw of your house, you have so much space man, pretty awesome . You could build a gym in your backyard a complete structure lol, if I doesn't snow where u are it could be open without a roof ... Tropical places have really cool open style gyms, basically a roof with no outer walls, enough pillars to hold up the roof, my dream home would have acreage and that style gym or a barn style . I look forward to seeing what ever it is you decide to do with your home projects and Reno's, best of luck to you ..

Congratulations on the new home! Woodworking became my Covid hobby and I found you on YouTube and appreciate all of the time and energy you put into teaching as much as just providing great entertainment. Much love.

Love the idea of a home gym and am working on various upgrades for myself a couple other people right now as well. Happy to help provide some ideas if interested. I would include things that make you excited to train, help you fell good and probably something with a custom touch (knowing what I know of you off of YouTube). I would begin with quality flooring to protect surfaces and humans, then add a Sorinex Rack / Combo System like an Apex Rack. From there cater to interests of what you enjoy where maybe some dumbbells, kettlebells, odd objects, various bars, punching bag, etc may make an appearance. For me I am looking forward to having my daughter utilize gymnastics mats in my home gym soon. Lots of options to make it your own and it doesn't have to be complete all at once.

John, my garage is half workshop and half gym so I feel you. I would recommend the pr-5000 Power rack from rep fitness. You can customize the color, which is awesome and all rogue attachments fit as well. Go with the tall version for obvious reasons. Plates, bars, and dumbells from wherever you can get a deal. 1 piece of ypur preferred cargo equipment since where we live is like the arctic circle in the winter (I'm about an hour outside of pit). Lastly, rubber flooring to protect your investment because that's what it is, an investment in yourself.
Also, check out "garage gyms review" YouTube channel for awesome reviews on anything you want to add to your home gym before you buy it.

That place is amazing! Congratulations!! Defiantly large mirrors, pad floor and cable machine. I find cable machine is the only way I can get my back to grow when free weights work for everything else. I love the corrugated metal on the walls. The waves on that corrugated metal look smaller then what I see at the hardware store or does it just look that way in the video. I have been wanting that look when we get a place but like you dealing with a crazy market here in DFW especially in our school district. Dream is to build a industrial style barndo half home half shop. Keep growing John I love the work you do and see your passion when creating. I try to always give you a shot out when I share a tip I learned from you like the threaded insert I just did to mount table legs. SO musch cleaner install! Thank you for inspiring us small guys.

Wow John what a gorgeous place you have. My wife and I were together for a year and a half when I proposed to her and then we got married 8 months later lol. This fall will be 10 years since we had our first date. I love the idea of the furniture line. It would be awesome to see a build video on the liquor cabinet/shelf as well as the dart board cabinet. Sounds like a lot of great stuff coming in the future.

Your house is a beautiful Home!!! Sara looks so happy and Annie is adorable! The tree house is fantastic! I would keep part of the tree house just for kids and build around the bottom of it for a parent/kids area! Notice I said I am going to guess 29 times for Pizza! Stay blessed and always be thankful for your Blessings! ❤️⚓️ Patricia

Great Video John. Your work says a lot about you as a craftsman. But this says a lot about you as a family man. Love it. Good luck to you. Looking forward to the future projects…

Awesome walkthrough. The couch idea did catch my eye for sure. Though shipping may be a killer. Plans for making couches and sending cushions for the diy'/woodworker crowds? I have looked up some and had ZERO luck on building what I wanted (other than the garden bench from Kings Fine woodworking).
