Another live action remake of an old property, but with social activism! Shocking. Let's talk about it.

I got a green screen! Also, what are your thoughts on Peter Pan and Wendy?

Nailed it on the head re: Wendy. You took the character from being the adult in the room, guiding and comforting the boys (not girls, the wayward boys - yet another nod of respect to girls that they lost) back to responsibility, reality, and home and turned her into a girl boss fighting off the pirates because who needs Peter and the boys to help out?

"When you don't lead with a story or characters, it's because you don't have any." It's the equivalent of trying to set up a blind date and saying 'but he has a really nice personality.'

The movie will be trash but the comments section on the trailer is pure gold!

Also, glad you brought up Iridessa. They never needed to make Tinkerbell black

It's not that they can't hire these writers it's that they choose not to.

Say what you might about the 90's-ness of Hook, but it took the original story, made it a bit of a sequel, included characters of color, changed Tink's hair color, and still stayed absolutely faithful to the source material.

The 2003 film with Jason Isaacs, Jeremy Sumpter and Rachel Hurd-Wood will always be the PERFECT live-action Peter Pan movie for me.

So I noticed this in the Jungle Book. Disney fundamentally doesn’t understand any story that’s about growing up. In the Jungle Book, Mogli’s decision to go into the man village was allegorical to growing up. Mogli leaves his guardian figures found in Bagheera and Baloo to live in the village after being smitten by a village girl. The allegory is fairly overt but not explicitly stated. People who know, know, and people who don’t, will find out. The Disney version just has him going back to the Jungle. No growing up, just growing complacent in a deadly environment.

This “new” iteration of the Peter Pan story reeks of the same creative fairy dust that keeps kids from growing up. Wendy looks like she’s lost her place as the one that starts to mature and instead embraces Neverland. I’d assume that they’ll still come up with a contrivance for the kids to return but it’s not going to be because they realize the need to grow up. It’s not going to be a choice to grow up.

Your 45 second pitch meeting parody was better done than the last 5 movies I’ve seen

Your skit was so terrifying cuz I was laughing then it clicked in my head; this could be EXACTLY how the movie was formed.

The fact that they felt the need to put "and wendy" shows exactly what they are going to do with her

Echoing the appreciation for the Disney Fairies as they have some excellent writting and are an interesting group.

You know...when you said Peter and Hook weren't gay, I was shocked.

It's strange that there are any number of stories that could be told with those characters, which if done right would be recieved incredibly well while also bringing us something new. Yet it's a prospect they've wholeheartedly decided to avoid instead as you said creating soulless retreads in an attempt to play it safe.

The 2003 Peter Pan does what this waste of space is trying to do and only did it a million times better

Plus, you're right. "Peter Pan and Wendy" reeks of virtue-signaling and the vibe of "we ran out of ideas"

Disney has basically sunk to the level of McGruber

General Audience - "PUT YOUR PANTS BACK ON! What are you doing?"
Disney - "I DON'T KNOW, I don't know what I'm doing! I'm so fucked!"
