Pre Arrival Fully Involved Car Fire Toms River New Jersey 11/7/22

OC - Toms River - 37 W & GSP - Crash with Fire

Around 1:15 PM 11/7 Toms River Fire Department got a reported car fire on Route 37 W & Parkway. The first arriving Chief confirmed the crash and active car fire. 2671 was first due and stretched the trash line to the car. No injuries were reported and everyone got out ok. The cause of the fire is most likey due to the crash. No further info is available ATT.

If the PD is too lazy to stop traffic, then the FD should park the rig so as to stop ALL traffic and keep the brothers safe.

I’m curious why they continue to wave traffic by the fully involved fire, I’d hate to be that agency’s attorney when a tire or something else blows and injures a passerby

Passed this car when it was smoking. Few people who stopped were trying to help the older lady get her things out of the car.

If you come upon an emergency (crash, fire, etc.): #1 - move you vehicle out of the flow of traffic – you don’t want to become part of the emergency. #2 - call 9-1-1 – don’t assume someone has already done that. #3 – if safe to do so, render aid. Don’t forget, you don’t want to become part of the emergency. #4 - Once the 9-1-1 call has made, and emergency responders dispatched, especially to a controlled access highway, it will may take 10 minutes, or more, for them to get to the scene. #5 – Drive safely!

Instead of "vehicle fire", the proper term to use is "carbecue". Firemen need to start using this word on the air and in the field.
