At my school, we had this absolutely bizarre rule,if you had perfect attendance, you could skip the final exam in any one class. But here’s the catch: it wasn’t just about showing up every day. You had to wear the exact same outfit every single day of the semester. Yeah, you heard that right.

One year, a kid named Jake took on the challenge. He wore the same red hoodie and black jeans for months, even through a heatwave. The rule said nothing about hygiene, so he just kept re-wearing it without washing. By the end of the semester, the outfit practically stood up by itself. He had perfect attendance, and his clothes had somehow survived the ordeal.

But right before finals, he caught the flu and ended up in the hospital for three days. Technically, he broke the attendance rule, but everyone knew Jake had earned his right to skip the test. Our History teacher thought it was ridiculous too, so she bent the rules.

On exam day, she handed out a "final" that only had three questions: “What color is Jake’s hoodie?”, “How long did Jake wear it?”, and “Should Jake take this final?” We all wrote “NO” for the last answer, and she gave everyone a perfect score, including Jake.

After that, the school quietly changed the rule,and banned the same-outfit requirement for good.

We had basically the same rule minus the clothing thing. If you were in attendance every day of the school year you could skip one final. I think the school thought no teenager was going to be able to go the whole year without missing a single day. In the end something like fifty-something kids skipped the physics exam in my grade alone. Yeah, that rule was changed just as quickly and quietly,

I'm a bus driver, and i have a student who would qualify... he literally wears jeans and the same black hoodie every single day. I've been his bus driver for a year and a half, and I don't think I've ever seen him in something different.

We have a very similar rule, but if you have an A you can miss two days, a b you can miss one day, and a c you can miss no days, and you don’t have to take the finial. And that’s for every class you theoretically you could get it not take any finials (of course in the core subjects you do still have to take the EOC)

Perfect attendance is lame anyways. Like they award people for coming to school every day. Kids get sick and miss. It’s a very unfair thing if you ask me and needs to go. They should be focusing kids who maybe spend more time in the hospital than school yet put their full effort in despite being so sick. Do they expect kids who are sick to come and get everyone else sick? Efff schools. And the same outfit rule is ridiculous., homeschooling all the way.
