Regarding Nic's "office" - Neither Phil or Nic "wanted" their own offices, and it was me sort of forcing Phil into an office to have a workspace to edit. After talking with them again today, they want to share the office next to mine. So we will see how that goes and if its not a good fit, we will adjust later. Never thought there would be so much discussion on this when neither of them feel this is a big deal at all. Its only a big deal to those who have zero vested interest at all how this is arranged lol... funny how that works.

Sound Engineer here. You seem to have done your research and I’m sure you don’t need complete isolation, but just know these rules when trying to achieve sound isolation.

1. Mass=isolation. The thicker, more dense, and the more of it you have in between you and a sound source, the better. Or you need an air gap, which is where the term “room within a room” comes from.

2. Sound is like water. If there’s ANY crack or hole in a wall, ceiling, or floor, sound WILL leak out or in.

3. Most HVAC systems aren’t installed or designed for sound isolation. Most are just straight lines to make things easier. For sound isolation, they do bends which help kill the noise by the time it reaches the other end. It’s more expensive, but I’m just letting you know.

If there’s anything specific you want to know about isolation or acoustics you can ask. I’m happy to help! I may not know everything, but I do music recording and I had to learn all of this myself at one point too.

You're not necessarily increasing the quality of your content, you're increasing the quality of the people MAKING the content, which will the quality of your content.

The amount of people commenting on Nic and an "office" clearly didnt listen to anything I said. If you think we havent heavily discussed this as a team, then youre nuts. lol

You started in your bedroom, then decided to move into another place, then another and then another and still got 4+ million subs. You ( I mean all of the team) are doing something right.

Really? Over five years ago since the last move? oh my ... time flies by. Seems like yesterday. I remember vividly your move into your first studio... damn, since when do I watch your channel? You were still at your home... might be 12 years ago. Can´t remember which video...

26:00 I'm getting plenty of wood, screwing and GOOD VIBRATIONS. I'm unreasonably excited by your moving and expansion.

Sure, Jay breaks the toilet in the old place, and instead of repairing it he leases a new office. Way to go Jay!

All this extra space and space that is seperated will help you guys so much in staying more organized. Also that fun room/ test bench kitchen area would be great. To much work can sometimes get to ones mental. It is nice to take breaks now and again before going back at a problem. I can't wait to see what becomes of you new space and what videos you guys make in there. Love learning about tech and it feels like you guys make it aprroachable for all age groups. Lastly shout out to Phil's edits cause they are amazing and both him and Nic both deserve somewhere to work on there stuff for everything they do. Big fan and hope your health issues get better Jay. I know how it feels to deal with serious health issue I have been dealing with some big stuff for the last two years which I will deal with for the rest of my life. Thanks for all you guys do.

I'm a sucker for 'new place' videos or 'upgrading space' videos, it shows how much you grow each time one comes out, I love the vlogs of people setting up someone elses space as their own too, makes me get ideas how I want to set up my own room or if I was to ever get a place like that, how would I make the areas work etc. A suggestion for upstairs on the landing, you could have the racing sim go there and have multiple monitors wrap around, think that would look quite cool...

I would consider putting a floor above that back area before you put up the ceiling...even if you don't finish it up there you can use it later if needed for storage or whatever you find you need space in the future...ceiling is high enough to have more useable space when needed.... and you can get into it from your second floor without another stair needed ( although that is another option ) ..now..before you finish that lower area is the time to think about it ... of course it still would be easily done after but i would at least frame the structure in at a cost that will be cheaper while it is open... those 2 rooms already are part of a structure ...

19:10 - ooh I would love to put in a mini split for my server room. Right now it's on the general HVAC, and temperatures get quite toasty when I have the AC set to a higher away temp. Have had to leave the door open much of the time, with a fan circulating air out of that room.

This is a massive move for you guys and i couldnt be happier to see this! Im super stoked to see the RTFM show coming back! As for potential suggestions, i know that youve explained your ordeals with opportunity costs; however, itd be really interesting in the downtime of the PC industry to see you do some work with Jayztwocars. Since you could pull a car into that new office space and you're a massive car guy. Itd be awesome, from my perspective anyway, to see you do vidoes of basic car maintenance for some of the audience who may be too nervous (as with water builds) or feel they dont know enough to do what could easily be a DIY (oil changes, brake/rotor replacements, tire rotations, flushing fluids, etc.) Are there other channels that do this? Yeah, theres several, but spoken in the manner of average joe as you do would be awesome. I know this could massively cut into opportunity cost and its something you likely have already considered, but just another viewer/fan that would be interested.
