How To Propagate Prickly Pear Cactus | EASY!

It doesn't get easier than this guys, find a cactus pad, stick it in a pot with some dirt and 3 months later you have a new plant :). This propagation method will work on most cactus varieties.

I admire your philosophy on prickly pear cactus. I live in the corner of 4 states that all produce this cactus Southeast Kansas, Northeast Oklahoma, Southwest Missouri, and Northwest Arkansas. It's everywhere, but most "so-called gardeners" treat it as a nuisance. I on the other side look at them as "nopales". I include them in my amateur garden ( 81 yrs old ). This is my 3rd year and second "blooming" of the cactus I "rescued" from a roadside and I am ready to propagate!

Thank you so much for this video! I have lots of my grandmother's prickly pears in the ground but rotting due to low light under my deck and too wet. I will repot them into a raised garden card with wheels so they get more sun. I will cut the pads off of the top and disgard the wet roots. Thanks so much! Really appreciate your tips! O live in Michigan and have eastern prickly pear and they do ok. I am propagating some now. I picked the best looking" babies" from old, scarred pads to start a new home site.
