Fuck. It's only just hit me how influenced so many different people to aspire to great things. I know I'm just an insignificant piece of carbon but Ziggy was from Mars

If anybody has truly earned the right to cover this song, it is this man!

Amazing, I bet he really felt honored. Despite being an international star, for an astronaut (even more rare than rock stars) to perform your song from outer space must have felt truly wonderful. The astronaut did a pretty outstanding job.

May 2013.  Captain of the ISS Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield spent five months in space.  "With deference to the genius of David Bowie, here is Space Oddity, recorded on Station, "  he tweeted. "A last glimpse of the World."
David Bowie replied with the tweet "Hallo spaceboy".

Of course it was a Canadian who performed this. Canadians are so 'effing polite and kind. WOW is all I can say. WOW. I'm so glad this was available for David Bowie to see before he died. May the light shine within us all from the dawn of creation to now.

When I first saw Chris Hadfield sing this song from the International Space Station, I hoped David Bowie saw it too, and liked it.Well, it seems he liked it very much indeed.Bowie wrote this before the first moon landing(which I stayed up all night to watch in the summer of 1969)and the BBC didn't play the song till after Apollo 11 was safely back on earth. It's now a fitting tribute to a great musician. R.I.P. Mr Bowie.

David Bowie transcended any single genre of music. Incredible writer, musician, singer, producer and performer.

From the first time I heard him in the early 70's to the only time I saw him in concert in 1974, through all his incarnations, through all the albums, styles, change until his last album, he was an phenomena, an original, once in a lifetime.

How lucky are all of us, to have shared this spot in the cosmos, these moments in time, with an incredible spirit.

Bowie may not have invented any space technology, he certainly didn't go to space, but his music has possibly influenced scientists and astronauts to do many amazing things. to live fantastically can help aspire those around you to do fantastic things too. Bowie I miss you so much, thanks to the crew of the ISS for eulogizing him in the most proper way. "Bowies in space"

Don't try to steal and re-purpose Hadfield's video.

I think Davy would have been honored, but he was a man who turned down many honors because he was a simple man who loved to entertain. A great tribute, thanks it left me choked up.

1:51 I've left forever

How prophetic. And this was recorded before Bowie passed.
