They want to give each and every member of congress a $70, 000 dollar a year pay raise. The people who have destroyed an encomony and raised taxes on you taking more money out of your pocket while simultaneously making what little money you have left less valuable.

Worked for the Navy back in 2012 when the shutdown occurred. Everyone who was shut down received back pay, so basically they got 2 weeks of free vacation.

They should be forced to read every bill aloud on the house floor before they can vote on it. Those not present for the reading in its entirety, are not allowed to vote.

Govt employee here (engineer not a BS position), I really don’t care if we get shut down. There was a bill passed after the long shutdown in 2019 that mandates we get back pay for the time we were furloughed so it’s just forced PTO without using annual leave until congress figures it out

The bill includes a $75k pay raise for sitting congressmen. "No don't worry, we'll be fiscally conservative *next* year we promise!"

For the military members, not getting paid can be a serious issue. Especially if you are required to move somewhere for a PCS. The gov should fund the payroll for the military because the military also has to keep coming into work whether it is shut down or not.
