What a GREAT video.

I am so glad that my first drum instructor (R.I.P. Pete Crawford) taught me to do it this way. That whole "loosen the throw tension to bottom out/snare wires off center/pray that it comes out centered" approach is so frustrating. This method works perfectly every single time.

Many thanks for this step by step video. This is, by far, my favorite method of those I've seen over the years. Changing wires was a thing I *dreaded* (for decades) before watching this (never too old to learn, tho). The 2 things that helped me most is the *"Leaving the Strainer on"* instead of "off, " & the step of turning the tension dial all the way down after turning the strainer off toward the end. Those 2 steps alone made this MUCH easier for me, & I'm actually confident now. Now to try your kick drum method.
