The U.S. is one step closer to making daylight savings permanent year round in a rare moment of bipartisan agreement. The Senate unanimously passed a bill Tuesday that would make turning our clocks back twice a year a thing of the past. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine argues that staying in standard time keeps sunrise and sunset more align with our body’s natural rhythms. NBC’s Hallie Jackson reports for TODAY.

I hate daylight savings time. I thought they ended it. It destroys everyone's health. For me, it's like jet lag. My body takes a long time to adjust. I think I hate falling back the most because morning gets here faster. We would move from 6 am to 5 am. This was one of mankind's stupidest ideas. It makes no sense, especially now.

I was a kid when they tried this in the 70’s. It was awful. As a child, I had to walk to the bus stop in total darkness. Every child had to carry a flashlight. Imagine all of these little school kids out in the pitch black every morning- not safe. It is safer for the adults to drive home from work in the dark at 5 than for little kids to be walking to school or to bus stops in total darkness. Keep Standard Time.

Since the experiment in the 1970's didn't work when they tried this exact same thing back then, how about we just make standard time permanent instead then. If people dislike daylight savings time so much, we can always just make standard time permanent then.

I was in grade school when DST wad tried in the winter. It wasn't good. I would rather have standard time all year. Hawaii and Arizona have been right all these years.

The risks of dark winter mornings and crashes or pedestrian accidents outweighs any benefit of an extra hour of sunlight in the evening just because adults want it. If we’re to go with permanent time, let’s pick standard time.

I remember seeing the stars at 4:45 p.m in Tennessee. By 6 p.m I was useless all I wanted was to be in bed. Now that I live in Arizona I am a lot happier and more productive.

So in two weeks is when you reset your clocks one hour. And if you ever get confused, just remember this handy little saying: When you trip you fall forward, but when you are surprised, you spring back! That will help you always remember which way to move your clock.
Hope this helps. P.S. I once knew a co-worker who moved the clocks the wrong way and was 2 hours late for work. Don't let that happen to you.

They did it in the 70’s in response to the energy crisis and it was not liked. Everyone went to school or work in the dark in the winter months. DST should start in April instead of March. That would be the best choice. If not, leave it the way it is. Standard time is the best allocation of sunlight during late fall early winter months. You’ll notice the days are longer once we hit late January.

So they haven’t done anything about it.

Dumb Idea. When it's 1hr front you have shorter day. When it's 1hr behind you have an extra hr, the day is longer, when you want to go to the bank at 9pm you're worried but when it's 8pm you feel less stressed.

This is ridiculously dumb. Let’s keep spring forward and fall back the way it is. I don’t like this idea of daylight savings time year round. I’ve always like longer hours in the summer time, and I don’t mind fall being darker at an earlier time.

Marco Rubio needs to find something better to do. This is a terrible idea.

Why not leave the time the way that it is now!

I would like to see them put the clock back onto standard time, then make that permanent.

I think Standard time is better. But hey what about the kids who walk to school are they going to be walking to school in the dark? In the winter months.
