I speak from experience that taking my then 6 year old in 2006 was magical. Today’s Disney is woke, overpriced & the magic is gone.

Disney is a horrible evil shell of its former theme park glory. I had a annual pass there for years. After Michael Eisner left it went downhill from a quality standpoint, so we stopped going. After we stopped going it literally turned demonic. Yes, I mean the word "literally" in it's traditional sense. So, I would have boycotted it if I hadn't already stopped going because the quality of the experience went down and the prices went up.

My wife and I took our kids to Disney World back in 1995 when our youngest was 5. We had very few, if any, meltdowns. That was a totally different Disney back then.

Disney is NOT the "happiest place on Earth".

As someone who's been there, yes.

I’m saving for a holiday to USA and the last place I’d take my family is Disney 🇬🇧

Even as a child, I never had a desire to go to anything Disney.

Never been to Disney World, but have been to Disneyland plenty of times. My kids LOVED it, even before the advent of California Adventure. Some of my best memories with my kids are from our trips to Disneyland. Too bad they have gone so woke. Takes the joy and magic out of it. Walt is probably rolling in his grave about now.

Reminds me— when boys were young— they played with wood blocks left behind by carpenter, just chucks of 2x4s— building various things. Best Christmas present other than the plastic building toys popular even today.

25 years ago it was a much different place. Nowadays, it sucks.

I lived in the L.A. area when I was a kid. Late 70s- early 80s. Did all the parks. Disney, Six Flags, Knott's, Busch Gardens, SeaWorld. Had a blast! Best trips? Skiing, white water rafting, trout fishing, the beach, Santa Monica Pier, Huntington Library, Grand Canyon! My grandgirls. Take em to the beach. You can't drag em away! 😂 Washington state. It's beautiful up here.

I live in CA, yes, I know... we are planning to move, but I am taking care of my elderly parents. I am being very careful what I wish for when it comes to that, but when they are gone, I am gone.

We have had annual passes to Disneyland many times. When it was cheaper of course, all the way back to the 80's. I was there when they stayed opened for 72 hours straight for Star Tours and Captain EO. Rode Indiana Jones and Splash Mountain on opening day. I would take my kids for a couple of hours, then go home. Sometimes after work, and up to 3-4 times a week. It wasn't that bad. It was like going to a park, sort of the way Walt intended it. If it was too busy, we would walk around the park, maybe grab a corn dog and go home.

Disneyland is a different experience when you don't feel the need to spend 14+ hours there, my 2 daughters have a lot of good memories there.

I haven't been there since they put in that Star Wars land though. They increased prices too much to make it worth it. Also, while they were family friendly and (what I thought at the time) wholesome, they have gotten too weird for me. Just hearing Disney now turns my stomach.

When I was little, I went to Disney Parks in FL & CA both, & I barely remember them. The rides in Universal Studios I remember, and going to King's Dominion in Virginia, as well as Williamsburg and other Revolutionary War sites, and Medieval Times, but the Disney Parks don't pass recall.

I went to DisneyWorld Orlando once. My brother and I still have the custom Lightsabers we made over there. Works well enough for practicing longsword and katana techniques.

If you’re going to take your kids to Disney or any other expensive amusement park or experience, you probably should wait at least 10 years old or older. That way you can figure out their endurance levels for being out and on their feet all day, their interest level in actually doing all the activities available at the park, and at these older ages they should be more likely to remember and hopefully be able to appreciate the trip. If you really want to go with younger kids, do 1 park only and pick the one that you will enjoy and that has some things for them too. Save the money for a future return trip if the kids actually liked it the first time.

Disney in Tokyo is actually great compared to the US Disney counterparts.

I've been to Disney World seven times in my life. Most of those times with my children through the 1990s and early 2000s I'm happy we're able to enjoy Disney at that time because I would not spend a dime on the woke nightmare it has become today.
