At this point, I refuse to believe Auspex isn’t a Servo-skull.

I like how the admech of all factions considering their lore context, are a honourable mention

The Plagueburst Crawler is imo one of the best designed vehicles in 40k history. Its a great looking vehicle, both obviously its faction while also being understated as far as chaos vehicles go. Its also zero frills and its choice of armament and restraint makes them very points efficient and good at its job in a way other overdesigned vehicles in 40k struggle to be.

The fact the kill rig has a higher toughness than actual tanks is astonishing. What is that squig eating??

In my heart, it's the Baneblade.
But I also want Predators and Fire Prisms back on the game table. And that TMNT Party Wagon at #2 back to the drawing board.

Was fun to page through the heavy armor. I honestly wondered where the Plaguecrawler was going to drop, seeing as every anti-tank weapon eventually has to demonstrate how well it will do against the high-armor, invul save, -1 damage combo, which I always imagine to be this specific tank. On the other hand, I was basically certain that the Leman Russ Tank wad going to top it, and glad to see that it did. I'm still so glad to see that one doing well, as well as how it has changed, with weapons like the Executionor Plasma Cannon, or the Vanquisher Battle Cannon, going from rarely chosen, or even just strictly worst option, to efficient, top picks. The Demolisher is still nice, and Gatekeeper didn't go anywhere, so the prior Guard of Demolisher Tank Commanders isn't totally gone, but I like the changes, is all I'm saying.

What I cannot crush with words I shall crush with the tanks of the IMPERIAL GUARD.

When your promoted tractor is better than tanks made using ancient godlike technology, a monsters hooked up to scrap, magical psychic material, demonic magic and advanced science.

Good to see Falcon on the list - this vehicle deserves a special mention in my opinion - it has been consistently reliable basically in every edition I remember - even when it was overshadowed by Wave Serpent, it was never a bad choice.

Plaguebust crawler - I'd say it is debatable if this is a tank or a stupidly tough artillery piece. Either way, these are notoriously hard to take down.

Custodes tank - something you do not see very often - very decent firepower - but not sure it is worth it. Considering that Custodes are always starved for points and you can usually get some infantry that won't be as easy to focus down.

Hammehead - another tank that was always good - either with Ion or Railgun, there was always a way to make it work. Though with Railgun being 1 shot weapon, Tau mediocre accuracy may be a problem - you must rely on marker lights, which is another round of RNG that may screw you over.

And finally we have the good old Russ - point-efficient and customisable to deal with any target WELL. Some options were always redundant and still kind of are, but that only a minor complaint.

I'm kind of sad seeing the state of classic Predator and Land Raider tanks. These things were in bad shape for many editions now - making them dubious choices, despite their iconic status.
Devastator Squad generally is a better option than Predator when it comes to firepower, and even in terms of toughness, if you position them right.
Land Raider always had an identity crisis, and multiple variants rarely really did much to alleviate it. A tank that wants to be a tank and transport, but does not fill any of those functions too well.

What's nice is that there's a custom Craftworld trait that means that when a unit comes out of reserves it gets exploding 6s for the turn.
This plus SoF could mean you can double up on Pulse Laser and Bright Lance shots.

I would say that the SoB castigator could be a little higher up. For the solid reason of miracle dice, not just to guarantee shots but also on armor saves vs big weapons. Especially with armor of contept you can easily save a metlta or lascanon shot with just an miracle armor save.

Thanks! Can you discuss the current role of armored transports?

Kind of surprised the kratos didn’t get a mention, yeah it’s points cost is kind of high but it’s damage out put is really good and the only paid war gear is the hunter killer and top mounted weapon e.g. Multi Melta

I was pleasantly surprised to see an Eldar tank on here. It doesn’t surprise me though the Falcon was picked over the Prism. The Prism is good, but you need 2-3 of them to make good for the strat.

I wonder where the Tyranid big bugs would end up on this list.

I know it's a monster, but I'd make an Honorable Mention to the Tyrannofex. It's the heavy tank equivalent for Tyranids with T8 and W17 2+ save with the ability to add a 4++ save to one of em for just 25 pts.

It warms my putrid heart to see a death guard unit in a good position on a ranking list. A staple of the army.
