Today’s Reflection on the Readings
In the reading from the gospel for today, Jesus challenges each of us to consider the environment of our own lives, to recognize the light that awakens us, to be vigilant to the destructive storm, and to avoid the circumstances that could cause us to overheat. Because we always find it more appealing to live comfortable lives without attempting to understand what is happening, whether it be in our time or that of Jesus. Jesus speaks harshly to such people, denouncing their sloth and preoccupation. The reading for today teaches us to appropriately and positively assess the times we live in. Additionally, doing so will require speaking up against injustice and domination. As Jesus prayed, I constantly ask for God's strength because I am unable to accomplish this on my own. In addition, I pray that God will lead me through any difficulties or dissimilarities I may experience in my regular way of life.
Prayer
King of Glory I am grateful that you taught me that "being honest with myself allows me to read my inner life more accurately." Please grant me the gift of inner sensitivity, Lord. "Change my heart, Lord, and let me live entirely for you. Help me to make the correct decisions, to repent of my sins, and to let go of any attachment to the world that prevents me from fully loving and serving you."
