Ricardo "Ric-Ric" Marata was a well-known Filipino professional basketball player who made his mark in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Born on December 21, 1964, in Alamada, Cotabato, Marata played as a point guard and was recognized for his quickness and scoring ability, particularly his prowess as an outside shooter.

Marata began his basketball career at Southwestern University and later gained prominence in the PBA after being drafted by the Alaska Milkmen in 1989. Over his nine-season career, he played for several teams, including Sta. Lucia Realtors, Sunkist Orange Juicers, and Pop Cola, amassing a total of 397 games. He was also a PBA All-Star in 1990.

Marata passed away on April 17, 2010, in New York due to complications from intestinal surgery. He was 45 years old. Marata is remembered fondly by fans and peers alike for his contributions to Philippine basketball and his impactful presence on the court
