Full Lyrics:
Hey Mama it’s me
Say you better wait child, said you’ve been a long time running

Hey Mama answer me
Baby boy you better sit down, can’t listen when the suns out
My only son this will be so hard to hear

C’mon Mama what do you mean
I know you’ve been knocked down
I know it ain’t all been easy, nothing ever good really is

Why you gotta wait so long (x2)

But she said son let me reason with you
You think you carry such a weight
I know I never beat you boy, but you better start acting like this here’s a race

You ain’t gone far enough to say at least I tried
You ain’t worked hard enough to say, well I’ve done mine
You ain’t run far enough to say my legs have failed
You ain’t gone far enough
You ain’t worked hard enough
You ain’t run far enough to say
It ain’t gonna get any better

You picked a bad time
You picked a bad time to listen to me (x4)

You ain’t gone far enough to say at least I tried
You ain’t worked hard enough to say, well I’ve done mine
You ain’t run far enough to say my legs have failed
You ain’t gone far enough
You ain’t worked hard enough
You ain’t run far enough to say
It ain’t gonna get any better

I heard this song for the first time ever on the way to the cemetery today to visit my son. Imagine my shock when the first words I hear are “hey mama, it’s me!” …. I know this song is the mom talking to her son, but I truly feel like my son was saying these words to me today. I’ve been talking to my husband a lot lately about how I’ve reached a platuea in my healing from losing him, and how I really don’t think life is going to get any easier for me from this point.. and today on the way to visit him, he sent me this song to tell me that I haven’t gone far enough to say that it won’t get any better.. I was BAWLING! My son doesn’t want me to give up on my life and be sad forever. He wants me to keep running this race. I’ve never heard this song before today. But it touched me in a way I can’t express.

My dad always taught me to judge albums on their skipability, that is, can you listen to the album the whole way thru and not skip a song? Gotta tell you guys, this album has it. Not many bands can live up to that standard these days in my opinion. The last album was good, but this it’s amazing. Awesome band. Awesome album.

"You haven't hit your potential. Stop blaming the universe."

Took me a couple listens to understand the full context of this song. You have a son who comes home to his mother because he's more or less a loser, but the truth is that he isn't everything he could be. She sits him down and expresses her disappointment in the form of a call to action. Really powerful stuff there, and a good parent if there ever was one.

Missing my Mom. 20 years ago she died of cancer. I think she still speaks to me through songs like this.

This song makes me think of my Mom.
Whenever I feel a little lazy I play this song and it gets me a little choked up. I remember being a kid hearing mom cry in her room because she was scared she was going to lose the house.
Then I get my ass up and finish whatever it is I have to do.

🎼 You ain't gone far enough to say, at least I tried. You ain't work hard enough to say, well I've done mine 🎶

This begins just east of Tower Road heading westbound on East Colfax Avenue (1st in Aurora, then Denver, Colorado) . The westbound journey stars over again at the 3:21 point (as it reaches a point around Colfax and Marion), but sped up considerably, and ends with a left turn from Colfax onto southbound Broadway in downtown Denver. The video covers a total of about 12 miles of stop and go East Colfax traffic, and was shot after a couple of inches of snow the night before.

As a 50+ year old metal head, I can't figure out why this band's music speaks to me the way it does. I fucking love it!

Today is the day I found my mom, who had crossed over in her sleep. Only 68, totally unexpected. 6 yrs ago.
But I sent this to my (emotionally) distant soon to be 21yr old son. He has chosen not to be part of my life. I've learned you can't force yourself on another.

Buried mum 3 weeks ago after 83 years of life. Dimentia took her from us years ago. Listening to this song made me cry for the first time since we lost her. It pulled this guys defences and brave face right down. Something only incredible songs can do. Thanks guys for the song and the chance to grieve and get the weight of my shoulders.

I heard one song of their's, went home and got on YouTube at around 10pm at 2 am I was still sitting in the same spot and had listened to as many songs as I could of their's and I have to say I absolutely love them. They are my number one and the fact that unlike most music today they are 100% genuine. Damn good guys!
