Most Master combo locks have a little slop... If the target is 34, and the lock was built perfectly, it would probably accept 33 to 35. But they are never perfect so sometimes allow one or two below the target and sometimes one or two above. I used to find American locks to be more precise but it's been years since I dealt with locks like this.

Some lock entertainment: Go to Lowes or Home Depot (I've checked several) and maybe Walmart (I've checked two) and possibly Menards or other big box stores that stock a lot of Master keyed padlocks. Look how many use the same key. I've checked a dozen or so each of Lowes and Home Depot stores in several cities and found cartons of locks all with the same keys. This applies to multiple packages, not just a single package with multiple locks. Handy if you need many locks with the same key, but I found it disturbing that the odds are there are a lot of keys out there for any lock you might buy.
