If QPR can win a football match, then Arsenal can beat City

If I was Pep I would play Bernardo where Gundogan is (so he can drop back and cover the Jesus-Saka-Odegaard side when defending instead of the Xhaka side) and play Mahrez on the wing so he and KDB can overload Zinchenco on the left. Gundo didn’t play that well against Bayern across both legs and Mahrez is coming off a hat trick. Only other change is Laporte for Ake because of injury, but having Bernardo on that side already takes away some of the burden for Laporte since he’s a bit rusty. I think that’s the best way to try to neutralize arsenal while maintaining your own threats

Man for man with high press worked really well for Arsenal in the beginning of the FA cup game. City have further evolved since then tho (Stones forming box midfield, Haaland being found on the counter)

Arsenal have to win this otherwise its no longer in their hands

If xhakas is out you play zinchenko in the middle and Tierney at Lb, when arsenal are in possession Tierney can be furthest forward on the left pushing city back allowing Martinelli to move inside and overload the middle and zinchenko moving forward to fill gap on man citys right. This allows for arsenal players waiting for crosses into the box and options for the cutback

Stones may well be a decoy but hes shown when hes played as an out and out right back he can carry the ball and make those risky passes that rodri does so if they doe focus on rodri city will just adapt and use rodri as the decoy

never in a million years i saw us competing with these guys. what a season its been. we go again next season

I think we might go long to Haaland at times in the game especially with Holding playing. It worked decent in the FA Cup and when Haaland was able to take down the ball and spread it we had alot of space to exploit

My fear as an Arsenal fan is that we are going to get brutally exposed. I can see City scoring 5+ if they want too. This defence is not good enough when you take Saliba or Gabriel out of it. Whatever happens it’s been a great season and we are in the champions league next season. Strengthen in the summer and go again. Maybe we can repeat Madrid 0 Arsenal 1 at the bernabeau.

Still having newcastle away and Brighton to play after this city game is brutal. Have to do the almost impossible by winning at the Etihad then not drop any points to some hugely in form top 6 sides. Big ask for the young team

“I’ve got a poll up for the game” …you and me both, James.

As an lifelong Arsenal fan, I see City winning 2-1 probably later on with us going 1-0 up, just seems like something Arsenal would do, it’s a shame we can’t stay consistent post-March every season.

Praying for a Arsenal win tho COYG 🔴⚪️

Description's wrong, game takes place at the Etihad :)

I would go three at the back. Ramsdale, Holdings, Gabirel, Kiwior, White, Zinchenko, Partey, Xhaka, Odegaard, Saka, Jesus.

Allows us to cover Holdings weakness. Will also allow Zinny to do his inverted role without leaving us short at the back. The front 4 plus Nelli and Trossard off the bench will be enough to hurt City.
Without Saliba we cannot play a back 4 imo.

It’s a must not lose for Arsenal. City must win out and Arsenal play much better under less pressure. If Arsenal manage to tie, it will be initially disappointing but remove a lot of pressure with it being partially out of their hands. I think they’ll play much better going forward after this game.

Think aresenal should try and play a little like Madrid. By that I mean not being obsessed with posession and leave martinelli as that outlet like vini. Be compact and then let ur front 4 who’ve been great all year make plays

If we (Arsenal) lose, it is highly unlikely we win the league, but it's by no means over. City aren't immune to dropping points and nothing is a given in this league. Points on the board are much more valuable than games in hand

I think the absence of Xhaka is both a good and a bad thing.. He has been so important to us this season with his movement, positioning and passing.. However this is exactly the type of game where he could see himself get a stupid red card.
His absence *could* be a blessing in disguise.. It could provide a good opportunity to play Zinchenko in his role.. And then Tierney at left back..
Because I don't think Vieira is ready to step up in this game..
Then there's Trossard, who *could* play the Xhaka role.. But I worry about him tracking back as much as he's needed to..

Then there's the whole different question about Partey.. I think he's been patchy lately.. He *could* be a weakness for City to exploit.. He's good on the ball, but *not* impossible to stress..

I think I would consider changing formation to a 4-2-3-1 and play Jorginho alongside Partey. And then Ødegaard as a more conventional 10 behind Jesus

Whatever happens, I hope we don't get battered tomorrow..
A victory would be absolutely immense, but avoiding defeat is the most important 🤔

Think we get absolutely battered by city. Our young, inexperienced and out of form team will try and naively press city and get caught on the break with haaland running against holding. Once it’s 1-0 city, all players will lose belief and we will get torn a part.

City go on to win the treble and people will start labelling them the greatest premier league team of all time, making it 5/6 of the last prem titles won and they will continue on winning it too

It's such a shame we didn't get to play City with our first XI even once this season.
Anyway, Arteta masterclass incoming! As long as we avoid individual mistakes, I'm sure we'll win.
