Etude No.3 is a great study to warm up into the classical guitar. The player must balance tricky chords with arpeggios in the right hand, while producing the bass melody with the thumb, rhythm with the index and middle finger, and the lead melody with the a finger (ring).
In this video I provide some tips and tricks to help with left and right hand technique and fingerings.
If you have any questions on anything I missed or didn't explain please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks
Sammy Gonzalez

Love the way you simply explain how to keep it legato.

My teacher told me this too, but I won't have a lesson for another fortnight and it was excellent to be reminded in the interim.

Beautiful tone.

Carcassi's studies are wonderful. Teaching / improving techniques, but with beautiful music.

Thank you.

Sammy Gonzalez.. I started working on this piece from sheet music, 6 months ago, as an amateur classical player. Although I have played many years, Certain aspects of this piece, I still found difficult. Your explanations, the breaking down into the 3 parts, bass, melody, lead has really helped me understand this piece.. Thank you so much for sharing your insights. This has been a terrific help. I regret only, that our family has no funds to be able to pay for even more help.

Very good lesson. When I finally slowed down and watched your fingers, I figured out what I'd been doing wrong with my left hand. I'm not really sure what finally clicked, but the left hand fingerings are there after twenty years of working at this piece! I would hire you as my tutor if I could. The left hand fingerings are tricky in this piece.

Having completed Carcassi's Etude No. 19, I am now exploring Etude No. 3. This is great!

I'm curious - do you recall how long it took you learn this tune, from being an absolute beginner on guitar?
