i love this. all the chaos yet all the evidence of freedom! he hits the mic with the shaker, the eventide isn't plugged in, everything is scattered around the room and yet this man seems completely smitten building cosmos within the chaos.

Nice laptop stand... gotta get myself one of these.

Update: It may sounds unbelievable and ironical but one day after initial post I've got myself same exact laptop stand - Eventide H3000B.

Great video. And honest. " most important is what people hear, not how you did it " Bravo !! ( pity the troll level goes up 10x every year )

5:55 "any kind of sequencer I recommend to use when you wanna sequence things" - valuable advice, LOL

A Juno-60 sounds great without any fancy pre amp. It sounds great in any situation.

I enjoyed this one. Making your own creative rules instead of trying to establish correct 'facts' - and inspiring people to just dive into their own personal workflows.

Cool.

One of my favorite artist interviews. Great work. Did he ever say what microphone he is using specifically? I’m on the hunt for one with the same qualities he described. He talks about it at 02:53 and if it’s the same one he’s talking about, it’s in the shot at 03:23.

Most speakers don't lie, specially these ones. Room (acoustics) lies! Not speakers.
LOT of misconceptions on other subjects here.

Agree with the headphones theory . i have a simple krk rp5 with the s10 sub for monitors, got the aiaiai studio preset headphones and was amazed that music i've been listening to for 20 years had stuff i *never* heard on any other system be it monitors or headphones ( and previous headphones were the sennheiser hd-25 wich are a bit of an industry standard, but no match for the aiaiai's. and when there's something broken, i can buy everything separately. there are up to 300 combinations) So yes check your stuff on both, and even more (tv, car radio, mono alarm clock, shitty laptop speakers etc...)

Headphones. Most important thing in the studio

Interesting take on headphones. I’ve found the opposite to be true. Easy to get something to sound good in a pair of headphones (I have some pretty decent AKGs.. not the cheap ones).. and I can get a mixdown easily to sound fat and balanced but then fail the dreaded car test. My mackie hr824mkii monitors are a bit of a pain to get things to sound good on but they translate better than a mix done in my headphones. I hear Audeeze make some amazing headphones and have a dude that swears by the LCD-X.. that they always translate to any system

Good suggestion to work in audio ASAP. That is basically what every top producer says

I am a big fan of this show, but this episode REALLY needed a de-esser! This feels like razor blades cutting my ears.
