Yeah, when you play an etude, you don't have to play a better etude than the one you played before. The etudes are there to get your fingers and brain in shape and get the creativity gears moving, not to knock you over with their fabulousness.

I will sometimes tell myself the next thing I click on is what I'm drawing/painting, close my eyes and click on a photo. Do I always like the reference I clicked on? No, but I do like the challenge of trying to recreate it and I learn a ton while doing so!

As a mixed media artist I sometimes just put a few objects together and see if something pops out.

I end up having this problem sort of. In my mind I know the huge list of things I want to create and all those worlds, but If I am working on one I think I should be working on the other and it repeats. I also take photographs myself, and also agree about how the internet can become a rabbit hole of inspiration and references and others successful works. Recently, the worse problem I have had is obsessing over the fact that art does fade. Even those well preserved paintings in museums eventually fade. Van Gough's are. I sort of start to think about how short of a time your painting or group of works has to be found and recognized and connect before its life passes. And or the effort to photograph and make books out of them (possibly for no one but yourself) for your art-babies. I am trying to work past all of that. But usually I just watch various artists on youtube paint instead.
