The Medieval Mystery of the Green Children of Woolpit

In this episode I break down the fascinating twelfth century account of the "Green Children of Woolpit," who seemingly appeared out of nowhere one evening near the village of Woolpit in Suffolk, England during harvest season. Why did these children have green skin? Where did they come from? Were they really humans? I will attempt to answer some of these questions and also share many theories regarding these enigmatic kids. Next, we will travel to Utah to investigate the very strange six fingered “Bigfoot” petroglyph located in the Uinta Basin. No other petroglyph figure possesses feet of this size, proportion and nature anywhere else in this style or region. Was the ancient artist depicting what he saw or maybe what his ancestors said they saw according to their oral traditions? Might this be depicting a hybrid demi-god from the old world that descended into the American south-west in ages past?Lastly, I will read an enigmatic account found in the digital archives of the library of congress that speaks of some large skeletons with four fingers and four toes unearthed in a Connecticut quarry in the 1800s.

The explanation of diet causing the children’s green pigment disintegrates completely when you also consider that diet wouldn’t explain their unknown language and other strange selective foods the children only ate at first.

As far as the blue people from Kentucky, take it that is where they also get the blue mountains, and Kentucky Bluegrass music from. I remember reading magazine reports, and internet stories, many years ago, about the blue people found at the top of Mount Shasta. They had said it was a condition of living at such a high altitude for either many years, and/or being born that high up - something to do with the veins of oxygen in the blood levels. At any rate, I cannot find anything on that story anymore - it's as if it was erased from the internet.

On the green skin children and the blue skin family in Kentucky. It could be caused by certain metal's, copper for green, and Silver for blue.

Sounds like Paul Martin may have gotten this right. The cattle may have been herded by the father, along with his children into the cave for protection, against the fighting that was going to happen in St Martin. Now being in the cave for a long time, and hearing the 'bells' of the cows, hallucinations, and lots of walking, in the cave, in which there was no sun, eventually led them out, maybe days later into their present situation. By this time, they had gone from hunger, to not wanting to really eat anything, possibly leading to mal-nourishment as a result, and possible bacterial infection from inside the cave. As kids, stories and events in life tend to sometimes get remembered differently than what actually happened, and so the girl told this story in the only way she remembered - years later, and becomes quite exciting and sci-fi like. However, the actual events may actually been more of a down to earth logical explanation.

They where both from Belgium that's why they didn't speak English their was a lot of Belgium people moving to England in the 12th century there parents use to dye wool that's why they both had green skin when they moved to England they where both separated from their parents and wondered for days looking for their lost parents living of wild berries and mushrooms until they fell down from hunger and exhaustion in Woolpit

The Land of St. Marten's (and yes, it is St. Marten's, not St. Martin's, which makes it even more odd, St. Marten's being the Alpine rendering of the name) actually makes a few appearances in English Folklore, yet its attributes always remain the same; Everything suffused with green, perpetual twilight, heavy, almost soup-like air, the notion that the Sun sits below the horizon but always in the same place and to travel in that direction is unsafe, and of course the ever-present sound of bells.

Hy-Brasil, a mythical island off the West Coast of Ireland that is said to appear shrouded in mist every seven years is also said to be heralded by the sound of bells.

There's also long enduring stories of the Land of Lyonesse, a drowned, mythical kingdom of saints and sages that supposedly existed between what is now Land's End in Cornwall and the Scilly Isles. The legend states that when Lyonesse sank, its many hundreds of churches rang their bells until they were swallowed beneath the waves, and ever since people crossing the Celtic Sea between Cornwall and Scilly have reported hearing ringing bells from the middle of the ocean.

In fact there's a number of features along the sea route named Bell Rocks, Bell Reef, Bell Stones, etc. named for the fact that so many sailors have reported hearing bells ringing when sailing by.
