I’m debating buying a property and starting a venue.

My parents once looked into this idea for a business, and I'm starting to like the idea too. Not to mention that we already have empty land to build on; it would be a matter of zoning and having the money to build at this point, and whether my family would be willing to do this.

The biggest difference between their idea and my idea would be that I'd desire a ballroom-style space with a stage (nothing overly fancy). I have a special place in my heart for the performing arts and I would like something that could also double as a performance venue; this would also make the facility more flexible. I'd probably want to start with the ballroom and stage combination, with restrooms and a small backstage dressing room, but make the facility expandable (upon becoming profitable) and later add an on-site kitchen (though perhaps I need to start with this from the get-go?), group breakout rooms, a more sophisticated lighting/sound/projection system, and perhaps retractable seating (to allow for a more auditorium-style setup for performances).
