I appreciate the breakdown and your specific thoughts. Been really debating between these 2 mounts, and now the Midwest mount might have the slight advantage.

I have the MI mount on my SUB2K for all the same reasons.

Like you, I mounted it fairly far forward to eliminate the hokey cord issue. Another problem with the cord: If you've installed the Kel Tec brass bolt, storing it using that cord to hold the bolt open so it doesn't hit the sight will eventually cause the charging handle to deform the hole in the bolt where the charging handle inserts (the brass is much softer than the charging handle post). Eventually, it'll just fall out. I store it with the bolt closed, as over time, storing it with the bolt locked open will do the same thing.

A lot of people complain that the MI mount won't hold zero because it's mounted to the Kel Tec polymer handguard, which can flex and deform under heat and recoil. The Performance Services Machining barrel-mount stabilizer that fits under the KT handguard and clamps to the barrel is a must-have to complement the MI mount. Works like a charm.

Nice video. I like the co-witness on the M-Carbo.

Big fan of the Midwest Industries mount. I like it back closer to my eye too and don't mind the little paaracord.

Great comparison. I appreciate the low key lack of TactiCool ridiculousness.

great video, I also had the hardest time choosing of the 2 and went ahead and chose midwest for the ease of stowing away. been happy with it ever since. thanks

Better Deployment VS Better Storage.
For me, it would be better storage.
You can crank the Optics Up for the MCarbo with a higher mount, but with even more Bulk and a little more weight.

You immediately pointed out my main dislike of the MCARBO mount. The way it sticks out when the gun is folded. It was a primary factor that made me go with the MI mount. I never had a problem with zero with the MI mount I despised that hokey paracord system to hold the charging handle so, just as you suggested, I mounted it one m-lock slot over and had no need of the cord because I didn't have to pull the charging handle back to fold my red dot in. However, I've since replaced that mount with a little 45 degree offset rail mount. Like the MI it allows co witness with the irons. Now I have no need to move the red dot out of the way when folding/unfolding the gun, it constantly hugs the gun and actually improves cheek weld. It seems like holding the gun in a slightly sideways cocked position to use the red dot might be awkward, but it's not. I installed a micro red dot reflex sight on the off set mount and couldn't be happier with the setup.

I have the MCARBO version of the SUB2k and love it. The only two of their upgrades I don't care for is this optic mount and their butt stock pad. (Went with the Missouri Tactical pad.)
Fantastic comparison review. To the point and not going off on tangents.

Thx for the video. I got the MidWest mount. Unfortunately none of my budget red dots seem to have the T2 pattern. I guess I'll have to save up some $$. If I gotta buy another optic, I want a P.A. micro prism so I don't have to worry about batteries. My Sub2k is my bedside buddy. RockOn.StayFree.

I have both mounts. The mid west mount would come loose and move plus I could not get the para-cord tight no matter what I tried. The Mcarbo mount works best for me. I bought mine when they first came out and got mine for less than 100.00. The Mcarbo mount when closed still fits easily in my backpack and is mounted to the frame of the gun so it is always tight and dose not move.

I’m so glad I found this video you just made me feel good about buying the Midwest industries mount and you asked the question I had about the mounting position and that stupid para cord 😂😂😂

Outstanding info. I had been favoring purchase of the Midwest design for the exact reason you pointed out. Mcarbo is a great company but their Sub2k mount is too wide.

100% M.W.I industry is my preferred. MCARBO makes some great other stuff and I bought plenty of the upgrades but the optic mount is just to much for me. Bulky and heavy and the point you make is perfect on the stow and bulk.
