BOSS MS-3 Multi-effects & switcher : why it's awesome and basic tutorial

This new effects unit from BOSS is very clever and unique. It's the smallest multieffects + external loop switcher on the market.
Up to 3 of your favourite pedals can be inserted into the loops, and then become part of the effects patches. It also has midi, exp pedal input, and can even channel switch your amplifier....WHAT!

I'm new to this digital world of guitar effects, could you help me? I have a pedals and one tube preamp pedal, can I do like type "3 presets" and put one in each loop? I wanted to put a couple of effects in a loop, another couple of effects in another and the preamp isolated in another loop, can I do this with MS-3? Thank you, beautiful video.

Hey man, just picked one of these up, epic...but I need your Jedi help!! How do I programme effects into the same patch... in other words I have in patch 2 (Blue the whole time) I have a phaser and tape delay, then I tap the same switch still in blue mode and get FX1 and FX2 added in... I have no idea how I flaked this!! But its epic !! Also I have the FS7... for banking up and down, ... how can I change banks without it changing straight away? I'd like to say bank up...stay in my current patch until I hit the chosen patch..If ya get what I'm trying to say haha..

The Boss MS3 cuts off the Delay spillover ("trails") whenever you change presets. This is quite annoying (try to play a U2 song that has 5 different sound changes). Other devices have "snapshots" or "scenes" that do not cut the trails of Delays and Reverbs when you change a preset/sound. How can you do this with the MS3? Obviously when you use the Curnum fuction it does not cut off trails but here we talk about only 2 snapshots! This is not enough.

How does the tone of these effects stack up against the real boss stompboxes? I've invested in a lot of boss pedals over the years. Is it time to sell them?

Hi there what is the best approach with the Boss MS-3 when it comes to mix board connections, there are some places they don't like guitar amps and cabinets on the stage and they go directly to the mixer, any information provided will be really appreciated, Thanks

All seems great, but no 4cm? Really? So you have to make a choice to put all these FX either in front of the amp, or in the loop? Don't most people want Rev+Delay in the amp loop and Modulations and Boosts in the front?

At 58 seconds, There are 4 switches.What are the 4 switches? What do they do and how do we use them? In manual mode you can turn each loop/effect off or on. What is a loop?How do you turn off a loop and why would you need to turn off a loop? Can you show how to use the maximum number of effects on the ms-3? You said it can only use a maximum of 6 effects? Would love if someone would do a tutorial for fuckwits.

Hi James, as always great demo! I have a Boss Katana Head which I bought because of you - thanks! I am happy with that and I have GA-FC as well. Since Katana has "only" 8 plus panel number of presets, could I use MS-3 to channel switch all Katana channels and utilise basically in combination any effects and of course three of my fave pedals... this would be a pretty good rig combo, for electric and even electro acoustic guitar... Thx.

Well done vid...ty.. but what's with the artifacts buzzing and jumping out all over the place? Is that just because ur in a board and not in an amp? I have a hard time hearing passed them once I hear them... It's like seeing one ant... Then suddenly noticing the other ten thousand that you hadn't noticed before.. you can't unsee them... And u can't unhear the artifacts... Can they be gotten rid of?
